Deceit

A knock was heard on the door and it was followed by the rumbling of thunder in the air.

Alys looked from her right side to the left and said that the guards had not returned from the queen's chambers. She smiled knowing that the queen had engaged them so that she would have the time and chance to do what she needed to do.

But Alys was worried about one thing. The guard had to come back early so that they would meet her standing outside and not see that she had served Ceri Binner anything.

It had to be as if she had been standing outside the door all through waiting for them to return from the queen's chambers.

"Come in or remain there. As I said, I do not care anymore, "Ceri Binner said from inside the room.

Alys rushed inside.

"The tea, Lady Ceri," Alys said as she dropped the cup of tea on the table that was in front of the lady and took the tray away holding it behind her.
