Waking up

Princess Adelia gazed on the ceiling it was flat and white. She felt weak but she could now pull herself up.

"Huh? Where am I?" Looking in front of her was a woman with white attire and a face mask.

"A human?" It took her seconds to register it but she recalled a harsh memories.

"That's right, I remember what hapened."

It felt like yesterday as the memories were still vivid.

Adelia was inside her home. The building was a three floored mansion just above the hill. They were guarded by the royal guards which was lead by Tyberson and Reg.

Today was supposed to be an important event which was her birthday. Tyberson head out for a moment to get some supplies.

While Reg went to the forest to hunt some boar or deers. Thus, she waited inside her room.

That night there would be a feast. Everyone inside the mansion was glad with her upcoming birthday, but Adelia wasn't.

Adelia gazed at the bookshelf leaning against the wall. She read them all and was planning to read it again for the 50th time. For some reason Tyberson didn't want Adelia to receive more books. She was suspicious that they were hiding something.

Adelia was aware that she was not human. But every time she asked the royal guards who or what she was, they didn't take her seriously.

Tyberson just smiled at her. "You're a human that's the only thing you should think about."

The royal guards agreed. "That's right your highness don't think about it too much. Your father is a human and a ruler of the capital."

Even though Adelia could smile from the outside, she disliked it. She wanted to know what they were hiding. Thus, when the night came she would be asked for her birthday wish. The royal guards and the maids were in total celebration. Royal meals were introduced and Adelia was the center of the attention.

She took a deep breath and spoke. It was the time for her to speak her wish. "Tyberson, I want to go and meet the other humans."

Tyberson's and the royal guards' mouth was wide agape. They were surprised.

Tyberson sighed and put down his mug. "Your highness, I'm willing to give you any wish with that exception."

Adelia stood up, enraged. "I've been telling you for how many years, yet you just ignore me. I want to talk with other humans. I want to go to the capital and even visit my father."

Tyberson was silent but he got irked. He slammed the table. "Your highness!Enough! This is for your own good!"

It was the first time Tyberson yelled at her like that which caused her heart to ache. She gritted her teeth. "You've always been keeping me inside this home like a dog inside the cage. Regardless of what you wanted say to me. You, are not my dad!"

Tears flowing from her eyes. She then ran away from her home with full strength and even the royal guards couldn't restrain her.

"Your highness wait!"

Adelia walked for a few days across the silverwant plains. She was hungry and was salivating upon seeing a mole-like creature scampering around. But she had no skills to catch it.

Adelia fell on the ground. She almost lost her consciousness until she smelled a delicious scent from the distance. It was a village.

They were cooking something.

She tried approaching to get some help. But she was glad that she found some humans. She was somewhat relieved.

Until when the villagers saw her, their eyes widened. They then panicked and ran around in fear.

"A beast man!"

"Get your spears!"

Adelia was being thrown stones by the other villager. It hit her face which caused her squeal. "Please, stop! Help!"

She was confused why these people were trying to kill her. She then realized why Tyberson and the others were adamant on keeping her inside her home. "I was a fool."

The villagers then with their spears ready charged at her. "Everyone, kill her!"

"I need to run." Adelia gasped. She stood up and ran away as fast as she could. She cried like a child. "Tyberson I'm sorry. You were right. I didn't know that humans are such scums."

She sprinted quick without looking back until she dipped into the first ring forest of Celpheus. It was an eerie and dark forest. Even though those woods were frightening, the thought of being detested by humans caused her to ignore it.

She then leaned on the tree and cried her heart out. "I was naive and stupid. Tyberson I hope you can still forgive me. I said some harsh things."

As she cried, the last thing she saw was the red dotted eyes of the spider piercing on the darkness.

"A human!" Adelia was surprised. She didn't know what to do. "Please spare me."

"Doctor, our patient is now awake!" Said the woman with a white attire.

Adelia was surprised why this woman was calm. 'I'm a beast man but why aren't these people trying to kill me?"

Then a tall man with a white and clean suit appeared. She never saw these clothes before. He looked terrifying with his firm pose but he didn't look like he had any malintent. "Hmm, then I'm glad our patient has already awaken. We need to contact the VMF."

Adelia knew their language. Tyberson taught her how to speak Mendovian. She wanted to talk but she was still nervous. "Uh... Sir, what will happen to me now?"

"The authority will now take care of you."

"Authority?"

"Could you please just rest here for a while? They will be coming for you." The doctor said while heading out from the room.

Adelia heard some honks and weird noises from the window. Looking over, she noticed tall structures made of iron. 'Are those buildings?'

Adelia read what buildings were from the books, but she never thought they were these massive and numerous. When she tried to leave her bed, a small hose was attached on her arm, linking to bag with fluid. "What is this?"

She felt a bit with it weird as she felt it was connected to her arm.

The nurse explained. "It's TPN, also called total parenteral nutrition. You've been in coma for a week and it is needed to prevent you from dying of malnutrition."

"Woah, I never thought such a thing is possible." She then looked around. She thought this woman was kind so she could have a proper conversation. "By the way where am I?"

"You're in Vesna. You were saved by the VMF though the circumstance was not released publicly. I'm not really sure about the details."

"Vesna? I never heard of that before."

The nurse chuckled. "Well, I would guess you are from another world aren't you? It's truly hard to believe." She then stared at her ears. "Anyway, I was shocked when I saw your fox ears. Our doctors had done some test and it seems to be real."

Adelia was slightly nervous. She was uncomfortable with the topic. "Well, my father was human but I never heard of my mother."

"I see. I see."

"Anyway, how are you so calm talking to a beast man like me? Aren't you afraid?"

"Afraid? Well to be honest I got surprised seeing you for the first time, but after talking to you I know you're a sweet girl."

Adelia's chest was filled with warmth with her words. "If only I encountered you people at first I wouldn't be hating that much against humans."

"I'm glad I was able to talk to you."

"By the way, were you the ones who treated me to get well? I don't understand why you would do it to a stranger like me."

"Well as a nurse who worked here for 5 years it is our duty to save the lives of the people regardless of where they come from. That aside in reality, our health care has gone cheaper and we haven't much patients. So I was glad that we were busy for a while."

Later..

When the door opened, the doctor entered along with the VMF and Jessica.

When Mark saw Adelia, his heart just skipped a beat. Her smooth and flawless skin complementing with her pink hair made her look like a doll. He gulped.

They then bowed as a custom to address the Princess of the country. Mark was late to bow so he followed clumsily.

Mars introduced himself. He smiled. "My name is Leutenant Mars from the Vesna Military Force. I will be checking up on you. How do you feel your highness? Are you still feeling sick?"

Adelia was choosing for her words. "How do I feel? I feel fine. In fact, I'm grateful."

"Do you need anything else? Food? A glass of water? Or any demands?"

Adelia was slightly hesitant to answer. "Ummm, water I think."

The nurse then brought her some water. She then drank it.

"Do you need anything else?"

Adelia shook her head. "You've done enough. I never thought that the food of this country was so good." Much to her surprise, everything she was given was for free. She never thought these humans could be these kind.

Varg then smirked. He whispered on Mars' ears. Mars then smiled while caressing his chin. "Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce you. Private Mark, he's the one who saved you underneath the veil spider queen."

Mark got startled. The attention of the Princess turned to him causing him to turn nervous. He didn't know what to speak. "Eh uh.. err.. "

Varg laughed. He patted his shoulder. "Come on Mark, this is your chance."

Mark sighed. He knew what would happen. Ever since he was elementary he was the quiet kid blending on the background. The girls never took an interest to her. In fact, he even protected them from perverts. He scolded the peepers in the girl's bath. He got beat up for it but in he never even got a girl's recognition.

It was the same as those time. He didn't expect anything from the Princess because she's a Princess after all. While he was just some background character.

To his surprise, Princess Adelia beamed a warm smile. "So you're the one who saved my life. I'm very grateful. I don't know how to return the favor."

Mark's face flushed a bit, he lifted a smile. "Th-thank you."

Varg was worried for him. "Hey Mark pull yourself together!"

Leutenant Mars remarked. "Well then your highness, do you have enough strength to stand?"

Adelia nodded. "I think I can."

Tyberson slowly entered the room. He faced the Adelia with a firm look.

Adelia was surprised. "Huh? Ty-Tyberson?"
