Reason 3: She Shows Great Spirit In The Face Of Challenges (2)

Detention.

I'm a student who follows the rules.

I love school, and my love for it will never change.

I follow the cleaning schedule.

I pass my assignments on time.

I never sleep during classes.

I wear my uniform neatly.

I respect the teachers.

I am a model student for my classmates.

I am friendly, never engaged in fights and tries to mediate if such a situation arises.

But what mistake did I do to deserve detention?

The thing is, I'm picking up the bad habits of my classmates.

I arrived at school on time. But I didn't attend the flag raising ceremony because my classmates insisted that we do not attend and just review for the quiz in the morning.

And we got caught by a teacher. Not just any teacher. She's the teacher responsible for disciplining bad students and the guardian of the detention office.

In the end, she said that she wants to see us in the detention office after the flag raising ceremony.

"This is bad. We're getting infected by their bad habits, Ai-onee-chan. What should we do?" I asked Ai-onee-chan, a transferee just like me.

She's the perfect model student of our class. She's like an angel with her diligence and kindness. She's also pretty and smart. Everyone in class looks up to her and treats her like she's our big sister.

"This experience is actually fun, Rae-chan. I've never experienced detention. It might be cool," Ai-onee-chan said with twinkling eyes which made my world crumble.

Ai-onee-chan! What happened to you?! No!!! This can't be! We're slowly getting infected!

"You guys should relax. The detention teacher and Blessie are old friends," Ana approached us with a smile on her face.

I can feel my eye twitching.

Why the hell are you even smiling, woman?! This is a desperate situation! And why are you suddenly telling us about Blessie? This is no time to talk about the past and connections!

"Pray tell, Ana. Would you please elaborate? I could see Rae-chan's eye twitching from panic," Ai-onee-chan explained as she pointed at my eye.

Ana also stared at me while giving a knowing look.

"Blessie is the queen of detention back in Junior High School. She's the top bad egg of our batch. She cuts classes more often than any of us. She can even cut class with the teacher already in the classroom. So she's already a great customer in the detention office," Ana elaborated, talking about Blessie's feats of being a bad student.

"And how does that connect in this situation?" I asked, albeit sarcastically.

I never knew how to speak sarcastically before, and I only got this with the influence of my classmates.

"She got close with the teacher responsible for detention. And since she was never kicked out of school through her multiple offenses, this light offense of not attending the flag raising ceremony is nothing compared to what she did. We might only be lectured and have to memorize the rules of the school at the end of the day," Ana said nonchalantly and shrugged.

I can feel my eye twitching harder.

I know that you students are multiple offenders already by what I've observed in the last months, Ana. That, I can confirm.

But I'm only a transferee.

I was once part of the student government in my old school that regulates the students and punishes offenders.

The fear of getting punishment and a stain on my very perfect record is big.

But I have to agree with Ai-onee-chan that this is actually fun and thrilling.

This might be a new experie--- No!

Stop it! You're a good student, Rae! Do not get swayed by their words! You cannot be nonchalant about not following the rules!

In the end, we went of the detention office and waited for our punishment.

Counting the number of students who followed us in our adventure to the detention office, it's half of our entire class.

Blessie, as the queen of detention, led us the way to a well decorated office. She even slumped on a chair, which if I'm not mistaken, is the chair of the teacher responsible for the detention office!

"Sit down and make yourselves comfortable, my people. This is a customer friendly establishment, however, the chairs in this room are lacking for your numbers. Others can sit in the floor, while the others may visit the displays and decorations of this office. Please be kind and do not damage some school documents as the owner of the house might punish us severely in that situation," Blessie suddenly spoke in a well mannered tone, and if we are in a different situation, I might applaud her formality.

But we are in a detention office, as to speak! We are the offenders, and you are even acting like you own the place!

We waited for a couple of minutes, but the teacher never came.

"I guess she forgot about us. Well, carry on then, my people! We shall think of this as us being fortunate that the owner of the house is old and easily forgets things. Line up properly while leaving the office, and do not break another rule that might make you the target of the disciplinary officers," Blessie, still speaking in her formal and high tone, said as she pointed her nose high in the air.

"Hey, Blessie, let's have a picture to commemorate the first rule break of the transferees," Ana suggested and then giggled.

Blessie's eyes twinkled and agreed with her suggestion.

As the others were dragging us to get a picture taken, I felt that my world completely crumbled and I might not be able to fix it in a short time.
