For the whole night, Kai had a fateful battle against the black dragon, but soon his dream came to an end. It was time to start his usual daily routine, but he couldn't help but wonder who won at the end. It wasn't something important, but still, he was curious.

'Anyway, I should get ready and head to the backyard.' Their house wasn't big, like a mansion or something, but it wasn't small either. Roughly, it was about 200 square meters(2150sqf).

Kai quickly reached the bathroom, where he and his 'member' worked together not to miss the target, and they successfully did it. He then bathed for 20 minutes and exited from the bath. Refreshed, he made his way to the backyard where Allarick lay on the grass, looking at the blue sky, and waited for him.

Upon noticing his son's arrival, Allaric stood up and dusted off his brown leather trousers. He looked at Kai with a gloomy face and sighed exhaustively. "Kai, I talked with Cass and Graham, and both of them are against you coming with me. But I managed to convince them to give you a chance, so don't blow it up." Kai nodded in understanding. He knew that both Graham and Cass were worrying about him, and that was the reason why they were making such a fuss about going with his father for the hunt. Allari, Cass, and Graham were like another family of their own, and it was understandable why were Cass and Graham arguing with Allaric even though they weren't blood-related. Such actions made Kai feel safe and loved. Even though they weren't blood-related, Kai still thought about them like they were his aunt and uncle.

"I talked with Cass about your equipment, and she said that it would be ready in one week. In the time being, I want you to train with a bow and daggers." Again, Kai nodded with understanding. He already promised to follow his father's every word, so even if he wanted to object, it didn't matter because he wasn't someone to go back on his word.

He didn't have anything against bow or daggers, but he wasn't best at using them. His mastery over the weapons is as follows.

Soon, their training started. This time around, he began with a spear and followed up with a sword. He wanted to practice with bow and daggers the most, so he reserved them for later. They finished training with sword and spear in one hour and started with a bow first.

Currently, he could hit the target 9 times out of 10 while 4 out of 9 hit the bullseye. Even though his father often praised him for it, he still wasn't satisfied. He thought that it wasn't enough to kill anything. He wasn't wrong tho. Currently, he was practicing with the unmoving target, so he was sure his 9 out of 10 would transform into one, if not 0, on moving ones.

They finished with a bow in one hour and continued with daggers. Kai thought that daggers looked badass, but still, they didn't feel 'right' to him. After another hour of intense training, Kai was drenched. He was breathing heavily and sweating buckets, but he had the widest grin on his face.

After that, Allaric went for a hunt and Kai for a bath but not before eating Suspicious Salad made by Meira. As the name stated, it looked suspicious. Purple leaves with black rocks? And dark green sauce on top of all that. It looked weird but at least tasted delicious.

One week passed like a breath, and Kai's equipment finally arrived. It was Sunday night when his father told him that gear was coming tomorrow. He couldn't sleep that night because of excitement, anticipation, and partly because he thought that if he fell asleep, he would lose the fight against the black dragon.

When he heard knocking sounds coming from the direction of the door, he dropped his wooden sword and rushed to see if it was his equipment. However, when he opened the door and saw what was behind it, his jaw unconsciously dropped.

He saw a massive eagle looking down on him from 2 and a half meters high. At that moment, he started to crack his brain about every possible situation. He thought it might be delivery but quickly discarded it because who the fuck delivered something with a scary-looking 3m eagle that was drooling at the sight of him. then he thought it might be an attack and unconsciously reached for a sword, which he didn't have.

"Fat-" He started to shout but quickly shut up when he saw a squirrel coming down from the terrifying eagle and shouting. "Why the fuck are you shouting!? It's fucking delivery!"

*Gulp*

Kai gulped down a huge amount of saliva, nearly choked himself. The squirrel looked at him like he was crazy and said with a smirk.

"Hey kid, are you afraid of me?" He said. "kekeke... yes! you should know your place, kid! One day I'll be as strong as my progenitor Ratatoskr, and then I'll teach 'that' woman a lesson." He said as he puffed out his chest proudly.

However, Kai's worries had vanished when this stupid squirrel said that he was from delivery. After that, he just listened to his mumbling because what else he could have done? Thankfully, he at least got something out of him. He heard him mention his progenitor, Ratatoskr. He became curious and couldn't help but ask. "Who is Ratatoskr?" By now, he already forgot about the scary-looking eagle and the fact that the squirrel could talk.

"Oh, I see that you understand how mighty and amazing our progenitor is, don't you?" Kai laughed awkwardly and scratched his head but still nodded in response.

"I see that you aren't like these stupid humans. If you help me defeat 'that witch' and become my subordinate, I might as well show you my-" Before he could finish, Suddenly both of them felt pressure coming from above and chill run down their spine. For Kai, it was a new and very unpleasant experience, however, for the squirrel guy, it was like a long-forgotten nightmare came back and was staring down at him like it was going to kill him any moment now.

Allaric came out having the coldest expression Kai had ever seen, He was caught off guard by the sudden change in atmosphere, and the pressure was still present.

*Sigh*

Allaric sighed, and the pressure was gone like it never was there. "Mustard, what are you up to this time?" He facepalmed himself tiredly.

"Nothing master, absolutely nothing. I just came because my mistress ordered me to deliver this to you." Said Mustard, pointing at the almost 3 m eagle. On its back, Kai could see one big box. It was 1.5m wide and 0.5m long.

Allaric reached out and placed the box from the eagle down on the ground and said. "You can go now, Mustard." He dismissed him with a wave of his hand.

"Yes! right away, sir!" He shouted like he was some military soldier and left while mounting a large eagle.

This whole situation was confusing Kai to no end. He decided to ask his father, and right away, he said. "Oh, He is Mustard, subordinate of Cass." Instead of clearing his doubts, Allaric increased them. Kai's only thoughts were on why was Mustard Cass's subordinate, and he felt pity for him because he clearly didn't like working for her.

Noticing his son's complicated look, Allaric sighed again and said. "Don't feel petty for him. He deserved it. Do you want to know why is he working for her?" Seeing Kai nod, he continued. "He once schemed against us, and because of that, Cass lost a large amount of her money. When we caught him, Cass wanted to straight-up kill him, but Graham and I convinced her to give it a chance to earn the money we lost because of him by working for her. He made a magical oath that prevented him from leaving or scheming against us and etc. Now, it has already been ten years that he has been working, but he isn't even halfway through. "

Now it became clear what the situation was, Mustard deserved it, but Kai still pitied him. He threw Brow squirrel out of his mind and prepared for new equipment.
