System awakening

When they arrived, the sun had already set, a dim light provided by the moon is the only source of light, but it could barely provide a general glimpse over the sect. The view, composed ill-defined of contours, gave an air of suspense, building expectation in the heart of these young new disciples.

Tall stone buildings and large luxurious courtyards, decorated with quality wood, covering miles. Lantern lights beautifully illuminating the lively streets, and many disciples joyfully talking with each other while walking to go whatever they were going.

Forget about it, the sect was not like that, reality was totally different from the expectations of these new disciples.

There was indeed a stone building on the top of a small rocky mountain, however, no one would describe it as a piece of architectural work. There was just a plain gigantic stone cube made of square blocks stacked on top of each other.

At the foot of the mountain, spreading for a few kilometers, there were hundreds of plain wood huts, made of pinewood. These huts were built with the same exact model and organized in perfect symmetry. The streets, in fact, did have lanterns lit by formations, but there weren't many disciples walking in the streets, and they couldn't see a large garden beautifully decorating the city.

It is like the one who built this sect was a perfectionist with some serious problem with even the minimal disorder.

The city was a monotonous place based on practicality, a city built with the sole porpoise of receiving students.

Elder Hu Rong absorbed the wagon inside his ring and conducted the new disciples to one of the stone buildings near the mountain, where they were registered by another elder and assigned to one of the huts. Elder Hu Rong dismissed the new disciples saying.

"You can go home and rest. The awakening ceremony will occur tomorrow morning. So you have to be here at the first sunlight, otherwise, if you lose the ceremony, you will be expelled from the sect. Delay will not be tolerated." the elder finished his speech, turned his back, and went straight to the mountain.

The disciples looked at each other, confused by being left on their own just like that. They went to the elder at the registration and asked for direction, so they went to rest.

It was easy to orient around in this symmetrical city, the streets were all lined up in straight lines, which facilitated the location of their respective homes.

Ryu Sei was eager to see his new place and rest, it's been almost two days of poor rest, and everything he wanted is to be in better condition for tomorrow. As he made his way to his new place, Nura kept walking by his side.

At first, Ryu Sei thought their house was in the same direction, but when he made a turn and the other continued by his side, he was getting annoyed with his bad luck.

He arrived at his place and was expecting the other to continue forward, but Nura stopped by his side. He looked to the young man at his side and said dryly.

"Do you need something?"

Nura smiled and replied, "Looks like we will be roommates. What a coincidence ha-ha-ha."

"What?! Let me see your card?" and Nura showed his card to open the house, it is an identification token used inside the sect, and the address on Nura's token was the same as Ryu's.

Depressed by his lack of luck, Ryu Sei approached his token to the door, releasing a formation that was locking it. The inside, just like the rest of the sect, was designed to be practical: a table, four chairs, a small kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom.

Ryu Sei picked his room and went straight to bed, falling asleep almost immediately.

In the morning, Ryu waked on his new bed, used the bathroom ate some food from the kitchen, and accompanied by his roommate Nura they went to the meeting place.

They reached the designed place, when the established time arrived, around 300 people were waiting for the awakening ceremony to get the system.

A few moments later, a man in brown robes came before the group " Follow me." apparently, this man was not the type to talk much.

The group climbed the mountain slowly, and after half an hour of climbing, they were exhausted. However, the view was stunning, the sun rising behind the mountains, like a painting scene while the cold breeze refreshes their bodies. But the man in brown robe was not in the mood to appreciate the scenery as he guided the group inside the stone building.

Ryu Sei arrived at the building, and it was surprisingly big, on the white floor were hundreds of red seat cushions and in front of each of these were a stone plate engraved with densely packed inscriptions. Before the cushions, a single throne, made of black marble.

When all the disciples picked their seats, several men and women, with brown robes, appeared and placed themself before the seated disciples, but a single middle-aged man walked directly to the throne.

"I am Enlil sect master of this Earthly Transitions Sect, today you join our sect, and your journey to immortality begins, it is not an easy path..."

Enlil continued his speech talking about the importance of the sect in their future lives, what was expected from them, the troubles they will find in their future. As he kept talking, the disciples could clearly understand that the easy life they were dreaming of until now will not come to be.

"Now, the time you are so eagerly waiting, time to awake your system. There is a slab plate placed before all of you, take it with your both hands."

Ryu Sei grabbed the tablet and inspected it, he couldn't understand the complicated inscriptions, but he had seen high-level inscriptions before, and this one was in an entirely different realm.

"Now inject your essence on the slab."

Ryu Sei did as told, and a light began to emerge from the inscriptions, first, confined within the slab, but eventually, they emerged illuminating the slab's surface.

Sect master Enlil raised from his throne and clapped his hands together, and the air started to tremble when he used his power. Pressure increased by many folds, making the disciples feel dizzy. An explosion occurred between Enlil's hands, then he opened his hands, showing his palms, and an expanding globe light started to spread slowly, covering the whole hall.

Then it vanished into nothingness like it was just a show to entertain.

On Ryu Sei's tablet, a white mist started to leak. The mist got in contact with his hands and penetrated them. A profound pain assaulted his body, first on his hands then crawling up his arms, it was an unbearable pain that made his mind forget everything aside.

The pain reached his chest and spread all over his body, while sweat rolled down from his face. Next, a crushing headache came.

He couldn't take it anymore, he gritted his teeth, trying to release the tablet, but he couldn't, it was attached to him.

This process lasted for 5 minutes, the worst five minutes of his life -so far at least-, Ryu Sei keeps writhing in pain. The pain eventually began to fade, and before his eyes, a screen appeared.
