Chapter 74 - Daughters of Darkness

Sherri turned, smiling at Jordan Thomas as he walked up to the back of her car. Her smile faded, however, as worry for the older man filled her. Jordan, his dark hair fading to gray, had lived in the Bottoms forever from what she heard, the ancient black man like a grandfather to most of the kids in the neighborhood. He held the reputation of not putting up with the likes of Griffin, quite capable of standing on his own.

“Go away, old man,” Griffin sneered. “This doesn’t concern you. Go help some old lady or something.”

Jordan continued walking up the length of Sherri’s car, a baseball bat now visible in his hands. “Everything that happens in this neighborhood concerns me. Now, Sherri, you get on to your job. Glad to see you making some improvements in your life. Others should follow your example.”
