Chapter 77 - Daughters of Darkness

Kayla stood in a small clearing in the middle of a stretch of forest to the south of Harbor City, hands on her hips as she stared over at Kalinda, still not sure what the other woman talked about, but eager to try it, anyway. Kayla knew there was still so much about magic she didn’t know, and she refused to discount anything as nonsense. Glancing down at the altar Kalinda instructed Kayla to consecrate when they first arrived, she scanned each of the items strewn upon the dark piece of cloth: a wooden bowl filled with soil, a chalice with water, a wand, and a small, black-handled athame. What each item was for, Kayla had no idea. She hated that there was still so much she didn’t know about magic and her powers.

“There are four elements,” Kalinda explained. “Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. These line up with the four directions: East equals Air, South represents Fire, West Water, and finally, North for Earth. We’ll search each of the directions for your spirit animals.”
