By the time they reached The Murky Cauldron, Tansy had called everyone for help, most of them waiting outside the door when Damien haphazardly pulled into a parking spot. Everyone rushed to get Hannah and Kalinda out of the car, and just as they reached the front door of the store, Selina pulled up, cuts and bruises over most of her body, eyes swollen from where she had been crying.


Another car pulled up, the driver skidding to a halt, the driver’s door opening before the car had even fully stopped. “Selina!” the man screamed as he shot out of the driver’s seat.


Selina turned, tears flooding her face again as the man took her in his arms, squeezing her tight. “Are you all right? What the hell happened? You said something killed your mother. Who? Is it this thing you’ve been playing with?”


Kayla watched as Selina nodded, pushing herself away from the dark-haired man. “I’ll explain later. Right now, we’ve got to sever the connections between those of us who remain.”
