Chapter 63

I hadn't left my hotel room, and my phone had been silenced for days. By the time I finally picked it up, there was a flurry of texts, voicemails, and emails, but I didn't read any of them. Instead, I scanned the names and responded to Hayden, Liam, and Meredith.

Me: I'll be home on Friday, and I'll return calls then.

When responses started to come in, I turned off the phone. Apparently, ignoring them wasn't hint enough. Davis had called the hotel room, day after day. Each time he had called, he tried to persuade me to come to his house. I wrote down the address in case I changed my mind, but then he managed to keep me on the phone talking about books. He'd always known how to reel me into a conversation because literature was my escape.

But each time we hung up, a bout of morning sickness reminded me of how it had all ended and where I was today.

Liam.
