Chapter 79

After thirty-six hours of staring at Hayden's face, I was over the hospital. I was cranky and in a shit ton of pain. Thus far, nothing had stopped the contractions, but they hadn't increased, either, so maybe that was a good sign-if I wanted to spend the rest of my pregnancy here.

Hayden had been relatively quiet, but I couldn't tell if it was because I'd pissed her off yesterday about calling Liam or because she was worried-likely some of both, but I didn't ask.

I pulled up my knees to round out my spine. Just as another wave ran through me, Hayden's phone went off several times. She grabbed it from her purse as I cringed in pain, but her face fell flat and lost all color.

I ground my teeth and talked through the contraction. "What's wrong, Hayden?"

"Don't get mad." Genuine fear lined her face.

"About what?" Just as the words came from my mouth, the door to my room opened, and in walked Liam Hill.

"That."
