CHAPTER 44
“He didn’t tell you what happened to us?” Why wouldn’t he tell her?
“Cathy, what are you talking about? Dan never mentioned anything like that. He came in here to find me, and we’ve been running ever since.”
“But—” Catherine pursed her lips for a second before suddenly reeling back. “I must have come back here at the same time I was taken out,” she babbled.
“Cathy?”
She looked back at the puzzled and concerned Bella. “Sorry, it’s complicated.” Standing, she adjusted her plan. “Listen, we have to go. Danny might still be in danger.” Just remembering the shifters’ attack made Catherine clench her fists.
Bella looked worried. “I’ll only slow you down, but I know it’s out of the question that you’ll leave me to go save him.”
“You’re right. I won’t. Danny wouldn’t want that either.” She put the dagger back in her jeans before grappling with her friend’s hair. “I’m getting you both out of here, or I’ll die trying.”
