Cath

My face heated up every time I remember what just happened inside Gavin's office. And it doesn't help that I actually left my phone inside. I feel so embarrassed that I don't even know how to face him next time. I've been avoiding him the whole day, but I can't avoid him forever. He's my boss for Pete's sake, but every time I see even just a glimpse of him, I want to just crawl under a rock.

I felt his breath closer to my face, the air between us seems to go thinner by the second. My eyes were close the whole time, and I can't seem to move to my own accord.

"Sir, your next meeting..." Kyla's voice rang through Gavin's office, but she was stopped mid sentence by something. Then I was reminded of how our position might look like from someone else's point of view. My eyes sprang open as realization hit me and Gavin's brown eyes, this time with a mischievous hint in them smiling at me as my face started to get warm.

I quickly grabbed all the paper that we picked up and sprinted out of there so fast that I bumped into everything and everyone that I encountered. So, here I am at my desk, thinking for a way to get my phone back for the past hour without completely and utterly humiliating myself.

"Ah!" I silently screamed, trying to let out even a bit of my frustration and embarrassment.

"Stupid. Stupid. Stupid." I muttered to myself as I buried my face in my hands.

"You've finally gone crazy." I almost fell out of my seat in shocked when Andrea suddenly popped up besides me.

"You are going to give me a freaking heart attack." I said to her in between gritted teeth.

"Why are you so jittery anyway?" She asked, and with the smile on her face, she knows that I have something I'm guilty about.

"Its nothing." I replied to her and at the corner of my eye, I saw Kyla walk pass the cubicles and out of the office. A few seconds passed and Gavin also went out of the office, this is my chance. I can get my phone without facing either Gavin or Kyla. I looked back at Kyla again and she was still looking at me like she can read everything that's inside my head.

"I swear I'm fine Dre. I just left my phone in Sir Mitchel's office. I have to go." I said to her and quickly got to my feet and quietly went straight to Gavin's office.

I looked around me before opening the door of the office. I slowly but surely looked inside first, making sure that it was empty and when I was, I quickly head to his desk and started looking for my phone.

"Where are you?" I mumbled to myself as I rummaged through Gavin's desk.

"Can I help you?" I heard a familiar deep voice behind me. I was afraid to look back but I knew it would look weirder if I didn't and so I did, confirming my suspicions.

He looked so serious right now. All hints of playfulness and mischievousness from the last time I saw him was nowhere to be found. I became more nervous at this sight of him, not knowing what was running through his mind.

"So-sorry Sir. I-i didn't mean to intrude. I forgot my po-phone earlier. I just came to get it." I wanted to slap myself so hard for stuttering and making a complete fool of myself. I didn't need anymore humiliation in front of Gavin but here I am, barely making a full sentence.

"Oh. I see. I actually have it." he simply said taking out my phone from his coat pocket. I reached out for it, but he moved it away from my grasp.

"You shouldn't leave your things unattended Ms. Aragon." He said to me tapping my phone on his clean shaved chin, making me swallow my own saliva. How can he look so good just standing there? Makes me wonder how Matt look in person, is he also this handsome? Maybe that's why he suddenly stopped returning my messages. I shook the thoughts from my head and started focusing on the problem at hand.

"Sorry sir. I didn't mean to leave it here. I was just in a hurry earlier." I said reaching out my hand again for the phone but he just looked at me.

"I see. Here." he said, finally giving me back my phone.

"Thank you sir." I said to him and was about to sprint out of that office again, but he raised his arm stopping me from getting pass him.

"One more thing." He begun and I just looked up at him as he smile down on me.

"Give yourself a little more credit. You deserve so much more that what you think, especially when it comes to a man." he said to me that made my eyes almost pop out from their sockets and then it hit me. I removed my password from my phone when I hurt my hand and I forgot to put it back.

I didn't give him any reply and I just bolted out of there and cowered behind my desk wanting the ground to swallow me. With someone as clumsy as me, I don't even need anyone like Belle in my life to humiliate me, I can do it by myself.

I tried my best to compose myself at my desk after what happened. I opened my phone, and I was right, it doesn't have a password. And the first app that was left open was ChatPal. Oh no. No. No. NO! I knew it. And when I thought I can't embarrass myself more.

My conversation with Matt flashed across my phone and I suddenly realized that there was a new message from Matt.

{Sorry I wasn't MIA lately. I broke my phone. I was phoneless while I was having it fixed. Of course, I still want to talk to you. BTW, when are we going to see each other in person?}

And the horror washed over me even more than before.

"Hey. What's wrong with you Zoe?" Zab asked as we were sitting on the table eating dinner.

"She's been that way since she came back with her phone from our boss' office." I heard Andrea answer her, I was just so drained with everything that happened.

"He read everything." I mumbled as I tried eating the food on the table.

"What do you mean?" Andrea asked.

"Forgot to put back my password." I answered and with the expression on Andrea's face, she finally put all the puzzle pieces together.

"What!" She yelled, putting down her spoon and fork.

"He said something about me deserving someone better then when I opened the phone, ChatPal was opened." I replied and the same shock that was on my face the first time I realized what happened was mirrored on Andrea's face.

I locked myself inside my room after dinner and tried to focus on Matt other than Gavin. I opened my phone and started with putting up my password again and finally typing a reply for Matt.

{Hey. Been busy all day. Sorry about getting way to dramatic about you being MIA. So, how have you been?}

I asked and I could see immediately see that Matt was online and he was already typing a message.

{So, I guess, you missed me huh?}

I was taken aback by his reply and it made me realized that, I did. I did missed talking to him. I missed the butterflies in my stomach every time I was waiting for him to reply. And I guess with his first message for almost a two weeks, I gained confidence.

{What you gonna do about it?}

I smiled as I stare at my reply to him, two can play at that game. I could see him writing and erasing and writing away, trying to compose a reply to me.

{Someone's been confident while I was gone.}

{Just wanted to see how you would react.}

{You still haven't answered my question Zoe, when are we going to meet in person?}

He asked and that stopped me for a second. I don't think I can push this off any longer.

{Look Matt. I don't think I can. I'm not exactly someone who you think I am. I'm not pretty, or have a great physique.}

{Do you really think I care about those things? I like the way I'm able to talk to you easily. I like the way that you put a smile on my face. Basically, I just like you.}

He replied and I honestly believed him for a moment there, that he wouldn't be disappointed with me. But I have my fair share of experience with online dating, a fair share of experience when it comes to guys blocking me or ghosting me right after the first time we met in person.

{Let me think about it. Good night, Matt.}

{Good night Zoe. I'll see you soon... I hope.}

Should I just give it a chance? Or should I keep playing safe?
