Just Another High School Story!

"And, the second prize goes to... Mindy and her team with the musical, "Cupcake"!"

When these words left the principal's mouth and hit her ears, she jumped for joy. She could not possibly believe that they had won, winning never came easy for her, and this one had seemed easy as a 'cupcake'. The principal called her and her team forward and gave them the price. He said, "I was moved by the play, I think everyone got your message loud and clear. I thank you and now I hope you will say something." And then he handed the mic over to her.

She stepped forward, gracefully and bowed again before commencing her ever-ready speech, "I'm thankful that we got rewarded for our hard-work, I think what inspired me to write it in the first place was my relationship with my sister, because we have a pact with each other, and the pact helps us be fully honest with each other, secrets only drive you apart, there is no point in keeping them, therefore, just be honest, a lie can only go so far." Then they all bowed and leapt off the stage, but before Leah was about to leave, the principal whispered something in her ear, "Definitely, sir. I will be there."

When they were backstage, Linda asked Leah what the principal said to her, it was actually this: he had told her to meet him, early in the morning, because he would like to discuss something with her. Regarding the Head Girl of Wilson's High, she did not want to create false hope, so she just shrugged Linda off and told them, "Let's go to Bistro, coffee and snacks are on me!" "Yeah!", they chorused together, and left for Leah's go-to cafe, while she was driving, Shawn was sitting in the front seat, he flirted with her the whole time, it was obvious, he was showing preferences, but to let down her defences would mean risking making the headlines of their School newspaper, no thank you, and so she did not react much to his little 'tricks', but what can a teenager's heart do, swayed so easily? She couldn't help but pass a smile or two and play along. They pulled up and she got them all their favourite things, Matt had always been there with them, he was not a 'guy', he was Matt, and recently, he had been behaving a bit differently. As she went up to the counter, he followed her, she had her hand on the counter while she made small talk with Mia and talked about their school day, and the play, and just things, when he placed her hand on his, she knew what was going on, she had seen enough Korean dramas to know, this was a 'I-like-you' gesture, she could not deal with guys right now, embarrassed about her body and with a low tolerance, she whipped her hand back and it was obvious Matt had wanted to tell her something, she cut him off, impudently, definitely shutting him down, Oh no, she thought to herself, No, please, don't even say it! Dating meant danger, she did not want to be crying over a guy when she could barely stop herself from crying because of her food problems, and so she wanted to avoid the whole sex, all of them, no matter who.

She scurried to the table like a squirrel and plopped down before Matt could even move his mouth, Mia gave her a sympathetic look and he sat back down. Through the snacking, they asked each other about their plans and their goals for their future, the clubs that they wanted to join, and just everything, strangely enough, Linda was acting a bit distant recently. Nothing too noticeable, she just couldn't explain it, she felt a storm coming for her, she did not know what but she prayed for a smooth high-school life, who would have known that the opposite of her wish would come true?

They left and she dropped them all off, one by one, finally, they got home and Linda plopped down onto her bed, and she fell asleep breaking a Nobita record (Nobita: a cartoon character from the cartoon, "Doraemon" who is overly good at sleeping, and he can fall asleep within seconds, at will, basically the king of sleeping!) But this night was too special for Leah to sleep, she climbed out onto her balcony, and talked to the stars, telling them how this seemed like a memory, she would cherish and remember, forever.

The next day, Leah woke up, she was feeling a little uncomfortable, her stomach ached, as she had woken up in the middle of the night and was stressed out about the coming elections for Head Boy and Head Girl, she needed to win this... though she was not sure why, she felt no inclination to being the Head Girl, she just wanted to be admired, needed, so she decided she would give it her all.

She gave her name for the candidates and was pleasantly surprised to see Linda's name in the admissions lists, the candidates were still going through multiple selections, as for Leah, she got a straight pass into the final list of candidates, being a goody-two-shoes does have some benefits, as the principal had himself suggested her name. She was exhilarated, she didn not need to do the interviews; the person overlooking the admissions list was Shawn and he flirted with Leah for some time before giving her the signing list.

"You look really cute in a beret!" He exclaimed and Leah loved the compliment. It was not false, she really did rock a beret like no one could, she had been having a fantastic day, and she was chatting it up with Shawn when she saw him. Suddenly, everything went out of focus, Shawn's voice was just a slow humming in the background, she couldn't believe her eyes, it was... Ethan.
