Just Another High School Story!

Ethan, the guy who had bullied her in middle school, and transferred out of state for no reason, he had bullied her so much that she wanted to throw things at his head, he had left without saying goodbye, as if she needed one, she just wanted to curse at him, he had ruined her life, it was because of him that she hated herself and now, he was back. Would her high-school life be just perfect as she had planned? At this time, a quote came to her mind, "Man plans, God laughs."

She was in a daze, looking at him, when he sat down next to her, and said, "Hey!" This infuriated Leah, she had cried in front of him, and not just in front of him, in front of his stupid, demon-like friends, and in front of the whole school, literally, all because of him and that is all he had to say to her, "Hey!", talk about wanting to kill someone with looks, if looks could kill, hers would. She was praying to God that he would not recognise her but all her bad luck had started pouring out of some huge saucer onto her head, and it would not stop, not only did he not not recognise her, he greeted her like they were long lost friends, she found him repulsive and got up without saying anything, she wanted to dash past him, but he grabbed her wrist, "Hey, don't you remember me?" He asked slightly annoyed; he could see in her eyes, that she did, she did know him, so he was slightly annoyed; Ethan was the cool guy, the hot guy, the guy who was naturally good at everything he tried, the guy whom everyone wanted to hang out with, that is what had probably given him the guts to try to ruin her, he could make friends like a bank could print dollar bills, so fast, you wouldn't even know when you had told him your most treasured secret, he was the kind of guy everyone liked, the type that just did not care whether you showered them with a thousand compliments or kissed their ass, he was the handsome, cold and cool type; the deadly combo. He never greeted anyone, it was the opposite, people always greeted him, but Leah was the only one that never paid any attention to him, she always had her head down and was working, this was the first time in a while since he had greeted someone and she was repeating something she used to do in middle school, she ignored him, or at least tried to, "Whether I remember you or not is out of the question, I don't wish to be acquainted with you." She yanked his hand away, "Don't talk to me ,don't 'hey' me, just stay as far away from me as you can." As she finished speaking, she left without even signing the election list. Embarrassed she walked about thirty steps and then hid behind a wall, she made a fist and slightly punched herself on the head, "So much for being a topper, oh, what have I done?" She felt so cool when she was saying those things but a couple moments were enough to help her process what she had done, she had not stood up to her 'bully', she had not reasoned with him, she had stepped on the tiger's tail, maybe he had said 'hey' out of courtesy, or because he thought he had seen her at a party or for some other reason, why did she have to be so eloquent in expressing the utter disgust she felt for him.

After a little while of pretend crying and moaning, she regained her composure and stood straight, she formed the 'perfect' smile and become the perfect Leah she had planned to be, she would not let anything ruin her high school life, she had set goals and wanted to be better than she was in middle school. Back in middle school, she was just a loser, with no friends... speaking of friends, she still did not have any girlfriends, she had a lot of guy friends, and Linda, but otherwise, no other girl wanted to hang out with her, she wasn't the type to gossip, you see, that was a curse and a blessing at the same time. Her only girlfriend, her sister, was driving far away from her, all Linda was focused on was impressing Mindy and getting into her group, the other night, they were sitting on their balcony, when Linda had suddenly started laughing like crazy, this was not weird, what was weird was that she was badmouthing some girl with Mindy, and Linda seemed to enjoy it, this was not the person she had grown up with, Linda was slowly changing and this scared Leah, it scared her more than she had let on.

It was like to the outside world she was a different person than to herself, she was always praised for her grades, her performance in extra curricular activities, she was good at debating, essay writing and writing was the only thing which helped her feel like herself; she kept doing all these things without knowing why and writing was getting weary too, she loved it sure but what to write about? The mess that she was, crying and binging every night. She was not sure who she was, she was trying to find out and she would never have imagined how she would find the answer to this ever intriguing question.
