Linda waved hi to her, and Leah went to stand with Linda. Leah was really upset about Ethan, she wasn't showing it though because she was really busy with trying to improve her condition. She was human after all, how much could a human deal with at the same time, but to Ethan, this was a real blow, honestly speaking, he was destroyed, she looked fine, what the hell? He was angry, and he wanted to humiliate her. He knew that she didn't like drinking carbonated or sugary drinks, yet he got her a cup, and in front of everyone asked her to drink it, by gesturing for her to clink glasses and chug. She refused right away, and everyone was like, "Uh, you're such a bore!" "She can't even be a good sport." "What the hell, what's her deal."
The noise around her was drowned out by the look in Ethan's eyes, he was looking at her like he wanted to kill her, he knew that she hated this stuff, was he going to play dirty now, or what? Linda understood what was going on and grabbed the glass, and gave Leah her bottle of water, "Let's all drink." she shouted, and said, "To happier lives!" Everyone raised their glasses and drank. Stupid tradition, Leah thought and glared at Ethan. He shrugged and walked off. Leah had told Linda all about her attempt to kill herself at the hospital and how Ethan had help her. Linda had been excited for her sister, and mad about what Ethan had called her in front of the whole school. Hadn't she suffered enough? What was he doing despite knowing the truth. Sometimes, hatred can make us blind to the pain of others, even those that we love, therefore, only when we're out of the moments that we've lived can actually analyse, it is always a good habit, not just a good one but an excellent one to consider what you say before you actually do. You never know, you might ruin someone's life with a hate comment. "Words said recklessly can ravage the receiver." Always remember that. Let it echo like an unforgettable melody, and don't ever say mean things to anyone.
Why wasn't there a storm yet? Don't ask! It's already over.
Remember the day after the dance, Ethan had awoken to hundreds of messages, what were they about? The video of them fighting had been uploaded by literally every person in the school, the video was circulating like crazy, even all the teachers had seen it. They let Ethan off with a warning, and Leah didn't face consequences, she was only asked what she wanted to do about the video, and how important it was for them tell her parents. She begged the teachers not to, she didn't want to ruin the reputation of the school, since, it was circulating among their peers, th chances of it becoming old news in just a couple of days was 99%. She'd deleted social media apps, all of them, the day before, she didn't want to compare herself to anyone, she wanted to compare herself to the Leah she was right now. She'd be a better one. And so she took a picture of herself in really cute PJs and pasted it on her mirror, "Fighting! She'd written below the picture this word, usually, Koreans say 'fighting' instead of good luck. That's exactly what she needed to do. She needed to fight. Since the sisters had deleted all their social media apps, they really hadn't received any videos or messages, therefore, all she wanted was to let it slide, this stupid incident. What she didn't know though was there were really malicious comments underneath the post, she would just feel uncomfortable and unhappy, it was a good move for her mental health. She didn't need anyone to press the pause button now, she'd stop only after she was done.
The incident became famous among their peers, Leah and Ethan's grand break up, but what anyone didn't realise was that no one had mentioned anything about a break up, it didn't come out of E's mouth, and Leah hadn't said much either, they'd broken up without saying it altogether. Would they ever get back together? Or would their love story become just another high-school story?? Who knew.
Leah was slandered by literally everyone except the people she'd helped through her broadcast in school, she would write stories for it sometimes, and anonymously upload them. A lot of girls came over to her, some her hadn't met, some she had, all saying just one thing. Be strong! You helped us become better. She was thankful and now she didn't want to deal with any drama.
However, when their results were announced, they were sitting in the auditorium, Leah was presenting a presentation, speaking about the benefits of activities during summer vacation, finding yourself when you're disconnected from everyone, Ethan, as the head boy also had to present a certain part of it, when he got to his part, he plugged in his USB, and began. Recently, he'd been spending too much time with Mindy, they were getting close or at least, that is what Ethan wanted Leah to think, she'd lit a fire, and he wouldn't let it die down, the hate he felt was too much, he needed to vent. He knew that the biggest blow to her would be Ethan moving on too quickly, even though he didn't want to. The day after their fight, he asked Mindy on a date, their exams were just about to start, and he 'wondered' if he had time, in front of Leah. Leah could care less about Mindy, what really hurt her was that she knew Ethan was trying to hurt her. Great, she thought to herself, You're doing just great, at least, it will help me get over you. But... would it really? Leah couldn't even fathom the future right now. He was hanging out with Mindy before their presentation, and she handed him the USB, she'd held on to it. GREAT. Just great.
As Ethan was about to speak, after the lights dimmed and the screen lit up, Leah turned around to look at the screen. They'd done their presentations separately, she didn't know the contents of the presentation, but was sure Ethan wouldn't do something embarrassing, despite their personal relationship, professionally, he'd never let her down. Or at least she'd thought so.
The screen illuminated only to show something horrible. The title of the first slide, timed to keep showing for thirty seconds was "Barfie- The Head Girl" and beneath it were pictures of girls throwing up in bathrooms, afterwards another slide showed, for Leah, the world had slowed down. She couldn't feel anything, her ears went numb to the gasps and 'oohs' and 'whats', and noise, she could feel her chest heave, she didn't know what happened next. She collapsed onto the floor and everything blacked out for her.
Of course, she'd planned to tell everyone but not like this. Never like this!
