Just Another High School Story!

She was a strong woman, Leah's mom, never one to cry, but that day, her mother had cried and apologised for not being sensitive to her feelings, she told her daughter the reason as to why, the grand reason as to why she did the things she did.

She was worried Leah would lose confidence in herself because of the comparison between Linda, and her figure, she said that she had noticed Leah getting upset when people called Linda slime, or said that she was prettier, and then while growing up, Leah had been chubbier than her sister, her sister fared on well enough, but Leah was left to deal with the nonsense she heard, slim girls are prettier, biggest bullshit in the world -- setting a body standard. For her, the biggest problem was the face that Linda was next to her all the time, someone she was being compared to for no reason, she did not hate Linda for it, obviously, Linda wasn't at fault here, the society that has made people insensitive to other people's feelings and made people stone cold and mean is at fault.

She had one goal in mind-- to deliver a message, one that would shake the world: "You decide your own worth!" A scale doesn't, not a weighing scale, not a measure of your IQ, EQ or whatever systems have been created to make you believe you are not good enough. There is only one person you are running against, trying to be better than-- yourself. That is all that matters.

"When I bought you guys dresses, your sizes were automatically compared, there was this one time and I don't know if you remember or not, you probably don't, you were too little back then, when we came back one day after shopping for New Year's clothes, you went into the bathroom and locked yourself in there, you didn't come out or eat for around 12 hours, you were in the bathroom, crying, not talking at all, when you finally did come out, I forced it out of you, you said that the girl who was helping us pick had told Linda a dress would look pretty on her, Linda had refused to even try it on, as she wanted the pink one, you wanted the black one, and when you reached for it, the saleswoman pulled it back and said, "It won't look good on you!", her mom was sobbing by this time, as if this was something really horrible, Leah realised that the things she had written about killing herself must have been harder to bear than a rock falling on her body, if she was crying so much at this meek incident in Leah's history. Leah wasn't a child who would throw tantrums, since she was the 'sensible' one, she had been treated like the older sister, though she was not, she wasn't even a minute and a half older than Linda, she wanted to be doted on too, to be understood, the incident Leah's mom mentioned, was just one of her little 'tantrums', her tantrums, usually none, would obviously be intense when she did throw any, these incidents were almost too rare, she was scared that her daughter might harm herself, so she had decided to use the strict way, instead of talking to Leah, she did what she thought best, her mom had thought that by making Leah change, she would make her life better, but look at what she had done, she had ruined her own daughter.

Every person has a right to know what is being done to them, and why; even a criminal is given the privilege to listen to the things that they are guilty of, the things that are going to happen to them, or when being arrested, their rights are read to them, so that they can be free even in restraint, so that the innocents can be saved, so that the ones with no hope can be put away, by not talking to Leah, her mom, as intended, hadn't protected her from the truth, but forced her to find out, and deal with it on its own.

Now that she'd finally learned the entire truth, she gave her mom a hug and realised that, her mom was really strict with her, sure, but Leah was a strong woman herself because of that, a person with a strong core, an unyielding backbone, her mother was not her enemy, no communication was, maybe, it was all for the best , she had never felt this close to her mother ever before, it was like they were best friends now that she had told her all about what she had done over the years, how she had felt, why she had done what she had; both mother and daughter; Leah had hoped not to become a burden to them, her family, she had originally thought that she would be fine if she swallowed things up, but by swallowing too much and not letting it out, you're basically loading gunpowder into a cannon, you are bound to explode, the more you hold in, the more you will let out, it isn't something crazy to understand or incomprehensible astrophysics, no math, no calculations, nothing, it is just the simple truth.

Like Kang Cheol said in W, "Everything in this world has its own principle." Similarly, the "principal" constant in life, the principle that Leah found after doing everything she possibly could, or at least at that age, she had done or was doing all she could, to be an active citizen, and love herself, she had discovered the constant in one's life, I know what you are thinking, right now, a million things must have flashed in your mind, you must have been thinking about things like, your home, your family, your friends, or just anything, but what Leah was talking about was, "Yourself". You are the one person who is always going to be there in your life, at the first heartbreak, at the first problem, solution, every moment that is important to you, you've witnessed, and it is important because you are the main character of your story, the universe, time, people revolve around you, if you were to play around lazily like Leah had been used to doing, your story is bound to collapse, balance the plot, make it work, you know what is best for you, you know what is best for your world, the answer to finding who you are lies in your story, the story that is a series that continues, forever, at least for your forever, you have one job and that is to make sure that the main character doesn't leave behind a horrible legacy, doesn't shy away from the truth, make yourself worthy of the role you've been given, all eyes are on you, and if you make a mistake, well, who doesn't?

Mistakes are basically teachers, they nag you like crazy, but when you find out that you have improved miraculously through their advice, you feel gratified, and grateful, satisfied, and blameless, you feel like if you had not made the mistake, gotten the criticism, you would not have excelled. You have got one job to do, play the main character of your story, but not for the world to see, it doesn't matter if there is no audience, you might sleep better at night, if you are satisfied with your story, it is your story, so make it interesting, make it worth it!
