Awakening

Shin, Miya, and Ase strolled out of their Combat and Strategy class.

"Shin, you were amazing I'm sure you would've had me with that feint move," Ase remarked, his analytical gaze fixed on Shin.

Shin grinned. "Well, someone has to keep you on your toes."

Miya interjected, "Guys, let's not forget the impeccable strategy I laid out. Pure genius!"

Ase chuckled, "Genius or not, it worked. We make a great team."

Their laughter echoed in the hallway as they made their way to the cafeteria.

As they approached the bustling cafeteria, the aroma of freshly cooked food wafted through the air. The trio's excitement heightened at the prospect of a satisfying lunch after a rigorous training session.

"The food, I've never smelled such delicious aromas. It's always been my mom's terrible cooking," Shin mutters. The spacious room boasted high ceilings adorned with colorful banners representing the various elite bloodlines. Long wooden tables with polished surfaces were arranged neatly.

Large windows lined one side of the cafeteria, allowing natural light to spill in and illuminate the space. The sunlight danced on the gleaming trays and utensils neatly arranged at the serving counters. The counters themselves were a mosaic of tempting options — steaming pots of hearty stews, sizzling grills releasing tantalizing scents, and colorful arrays of fresh fruits and vegetables.

A hum of energy filled the air as students queued up for their meals, their laughter and banter creating a lively backdrop.

The cafeteria buzzed with activity as Shin, Miya, and Ase found an empty table near the large windows. The scent of freshly cooked meals and the lively chatter of fellow students created a comforting atmosphere. As they settled in, laughter and conversation flowed, momentarily easing the strains of their training.

Amidst the camaraderie, Shin noticed a peculiar tension building in the air. Unease settled over the cafeteria like a shadow, the vibrant ambiance suddenly muted. Students exchanged wary glances, their laughter tapering off into hushed whispers.

Shin frowned, feeling an inexplicable chill creeping down his spine. Before he could voice his concern, the cafeteria's large windows rattled violently, causing everyone to startle. A deafening crash echoed through the room as unseen forces shattered the glass.

Panic erupted. The cafeteria transformed into a chaotic scene of students scrambling for cover. The rhythmic cadence of footsteps grew louder, and a chilling silence followed each echo.

Just as the chaos reached its peak, the imposing figure of Mrs. Ari, the combat teacher, burst into the cafeteria. Her presence commanded attention, and the chaos momentarily subsided as students turned toward her.

"Everyone, remain calm!" Mrs. Ari's voice cut through the turmoil. "Fallen have infiltrated the school. Follow me to the designated safe zones immediately!"

As students hesitated, unsure of what to do, Mrs. Ari's authoritative demeanor spurred them into action. The cafeteria began to empty as students followed her lead, moving towards safety in organized chaos.

In the midst of the confusion, Shin locked eyes with Miya. "We need to stick together," she urged, her voice determined.

Shin nodded, a sense of urgency pushing him. "Let's find Ase and get to safety."

As they maneuvered through the panicked crowd, Shin's mind raced. Ase, a friend he had just met, was lost in the chaos. The weight of the situation settled on Shin's shoulders, a conflict between duty and the frustration of saving someone he hardly knew.

"Where is he," Shin muttered to himself, the internal struggle evident in his eyes. He glanced at Miya, his resolve firm. "I'll find Ase. You stay with Mrs. Ari."

With a determined nod, Shin broke away from the group, weaving through the chaos to search for Ase amid the unfolding turmoil.

Shin raced through the hallways, his eyes scanning for Ase, a friend lost in the bedlam. The corridors now seemed like a twisted maze, each step heavy with a sense of urgency etched on Shin's face.

A strange hallway, covered in vines, caught his attention. Without thinking, he stepped in, the vines guiding him to a doorway revealing a chilling scene –As Shin entered the classroom, the sight before him sent a shockwave through his senses. Ase, unconscious and ensnared in the protective vines, lay with an air of vulnerability. The lifeless teacher, missing an arm, lay nearby in a pool of crimson. The eerie stillness of the scene contrasted sharply with the chaos unfolding outside the room.

Internally, self-doubt crept in, casting shadows over Shin's determination. "Why am I doing this? I barely know Ase. It's not my responsibility. I shouldn't have come. I should have stayed hidden, stayed safe."

The eerie sound of unseen claws on the floor echoed, snapping Shin out of his momentary shock. Dread clung to the air, urging him to escape the impending danger. As he sprinted down the dim hallway, the image of the unconscious Ase trapped in the vines and the lifeless teacher lingered in his thoughts. "I can't let this be the end. I have to find a way to save them, to make sense of this madness."

However, as he sprinted down the dim hallway, an invisible barrier seemed to materialize, bringing him to an abrupt halt. It was an odd sensation, as if an unseen force urged him not to proceed further. A chilling feeling enveloped him, a silent warning echoing in his mind. Something, an instinct or premonition, told him that the creature responsible for the teacher's death and Ase's plight lurked down that ominous hallway.

Before Shin could gather his thoughts or turn back, a shadowy figure emerged from the depths of the hallway. The Fallen, a grotesque marvel of predatory elegance, revealed itself – a mantis-like entity with a sleek, sinewy body adorned in a dark blue armor shell. Razor-sharp limbs, reminiscent of a mantis's scythes, promised swift and lethal strikes. Crimson eyes glowed with an otherworldly intelligence, and the air crackled with an ominous energy as it closed in on Shin.

The collision hit hard, like being tossed into a wall by a speeding car. Pain surged through Shin as he hit the wall, thoughts of his new life and makeshift family flickering in his mind.

As the mantis closed in for the final strike, time itself appeared to decelerate, each passing moment stretched to its limit. Amid the impending darkness, a gentle yet enigmatic voice permeated the air, posing a question that echoed in the recesses of Shin's mind. "Do you accept my power?"

Confused and grappling with the intensity of the moment, Shin hesitated, his thoughts racing. "Who are you?" he questioned inwardly, uncertainty clouding his mind. The looming presence of the mantis and the impending danger left him torn between acceptance and resistance.

As the suspense hung in the air, Shin finally mustered the resolve to shout, "YES, I accept!" In response, blinding light engulfed everything, a surge of energy wrapping around him. As consciousness slipped away, Shin caught a fleeting glimpse of seven mysterious figures standing before him, their identities veiled in shadows that stirred both intrigue and trepidation.
