I awoke inside of a twin-sized bed, a teal curtain surrounding me, and the bed. As I slowly regained thought, I bolted up as I remembered what happened. Who won the match? Was the tournament over? Where was I? My body felt completely normal, compared to what I felt when I fainted. I slid out of the bed, and opened the curtain to find… A doctor.
They were Tending to another student, when they saw me. "Ah, you're awake!" He said. He finished up what he was doing, and walked over to me. "My name Is Doctor James Aden. You might have heard of me…?" This was James Aden? The man mad hazel colored hair, green eyes, and a pale face. He looked completely normal. "Yes, you're the one who discovered the A Particles?" "Ahh, yes. That discovery was a complete accident actually. I was using an x-ray machine on a student one day, and noticed that there were tiny white dots in random places. This of course was worrying, but-" He paused. "I'm rambling aren't I? Well, anyways, I need to give you a checkup to make sure you're completely fine." I nodded, and sat back down on the bed.
Once the checkup finished, Aden glanced at me. "By the way, you should update your UD. There's something that you'll most likely want to see." I looked at him, confused, before turning on my UD. Once it started, A notification bell popped up. The soothing voice of Ada came shortly after. "New update ready. Would you like to start?" I paused, before saying "Yes." "Starting." Ada responded, and a down arrow appeared on the screen with a progress bar underneath.

"Update complete. One new app was added." It brought me to the home screen, and a new app popped up. It was labeled 'Stats'. "You might want to open that." Aden said, smugly. I glanced at the doctor, then back at my watch, and opened the app.

I just stared. "Like it?" Aden asked, smiling. "We designed it like a video game system, so it'd be easier to understand. Basically, a new discovery was made, not by me, but basically, by sending electronic signals into your body, your UD can tell stuff like how strong you are, smart, fast, etc. But the even cooler thing is…" he paused. "Well, if you look at your stats, you can see that you have 489 A particles. Under that, it says `allocated particles'. The thing that you can now do is assign particles to certain parts of your body, increasing its power. For example, if you were to increase strength, A particles would be sent to your arm muscles. Agility: Leg muscles, Endurance: Skin, Intelligence: Brain, and Vitality: Your heart. Each ten Particles corresponds to about one point."
I couldn't believe it.
This was just… amazing.
I could become stronger, faster, and then I could do more to help find the cure for this disease.
But… Did I really want it?
If I were to use these powers, find the cure, and then suddenly have none… it would be like having a trillion dollars to spend every single day, until one day your balance goes back to normal. But, If I didn't, Me and my friends would die. Well, most likely anyways.
"Well, I probably shouldn't take anymore of your time. Oh, and, uh, next time, don't overexert yourself as much as you did." "I wasn't planning to. Wait, what happened to the Tournament?" "Oh, that. Well, after you fainted, it was kinda… cancelled." "Why?" "Well, it wouldn't be fair to you if they just continued without you. Plus, we would need another match-up to make sure that the brackets would work." "Ok… well, I'll be seeing you." Aden nodded, and I walked out the room. "Ada, open the map please." "Of course, Tel." The map app immediately opened, and I used it to get back to my dorm. Once I entered, I looked around. No one was there. Star was probably in the cafe eating something… which, to be honest, I also wanted to do. But I had something I wanted to do waaay more. I opened the stats app, and looked at my current stats.
They looked to be pretty decent, from what I could assume at least. But I had 48 points to distribute. I thought about how I wanted to use them, in combination with my power. Speed wasn't that much of a problem, as I was able to speed up time. But, I didn't want to have to activate my power every single time I wanted to be faster… Strength was kind of the same deal.

I decided to be well rounded, until I decided what I wanted to focus on. When I finished adding the points, I immediately felt the effects. My body felt lighter, my skin stronger, and my mind sharper. I sighed, and closed my eyes, ready to fall asleep, when I heard the door open, and in walked Ram, a grin on her face.
