“I guess it is not the only red box in this library.” Sean slightly laughed. He thought that this challenge is getting weirder and weirder after some time. Only absurd things happen in this challenge.
“What is this? We’re already 2 hours inside yet we cannot find that damn red box!” Louise said it with a low but irritated voice. You could see in Louise face that she’s panicking. She also looks more pale and sweaty.
“Are you really okay? You can say it to me, okay?” Sean asked Louise. He is concerned about how the girl looks like right now. He thought that it was a right decision to participate in this challenge. Maybe if someone was here instead of himself something might happen or may not help Louise with it.
“Yes I’m okay.” He received a short answer. She just kept it cool.
“It’s already 5:42 and it’s a bit darker here. Do you know where the switches are located?” Sean asked Louise. He’s still calm and seems like he’s not afraid the place.
“It’s near the librarian’s office.” You could tell from her voice that she’s nervous. Sean holds her hands and said “Don’t be afraid, you have someone with you. You have me.” He smiled.
Louise pulls her hand so that Sean would let go. “I’m really okay. Stop overeacting.” and walks towards the librarian’s office.
“This girl sure has high pride.” He smirked and followed Louise.
They reached the end of the hall that is near the librarian’s office. Louise extended her hands trying to find the light switch. She traced the walls trying to find the switches because she can’t see well because it was dark on that side. She found the switches and turned it on.
“Those lights surely lights the whole building huh?” Sean laughed after seeing the bulbs produce dimmed lights. “How do they light the whole library with that?”
Louise felt relieved after seeing the lights. Like Sean said, the lights were dimmed and enough to light the whole building but Louise was contented with it seeing more lights that make the building look a bit bigger.
After looking for the switches, they continued to search for the red box on the first floor.
They are silently walking between each shelf to find the red box. Louise is in front while Sean is following her. He just looks at Louise because it’s been hours and she’s still pale and sweaty even if the place is not hot. Whenever he asks her if she’s okay she will just respond the same thing. He also observed that having at least a dim light made her a little relaxed.
Louise remembered that she has her phone. She searches for her phone in her pockets but it was nowhere to be found. Sean noticed it and said “If you’re looking for your phone, the other officers already took it earlier before we entered the library.”
She lifted her brows and thought why they need to get their phones. “You, how about you? Where’s your phone?”
Sean acted to look for his phone and said “They also got mine.”
“Why did you give it to them?!” She asked irritated.
“Because it’s necessary? Plus they forced me to.” He answered.
“You shouldn’t …! Ugh! This is annoying! Let’s go upstairs, maybe the box is there.” She said to him.
The library has this stairs that look like those who are in royal movies but it’s a smaller version. It was also covered with a carpet.
While going upstairs, they heard noises behind the nearby shelves. Louise stopped walking and listed while Sean bumped her. They started to walk again but they heard another sound and it was louder than the one earlier.
“Did you hear that?” Louise asked.
“Hear what?” Sean sounded confused.
“That one!” She whispered. Another sound was heard near the first shelf near the stairs on the second floor.
“Yes, why?”
“Do you think that was a ghost?” She asked again.
“Why do you say so?”
“Did you not know about the ghost stories about the library? It’s a famous story in the whole school you know.” They were finally talking properly to each other while climbing up the stairs. “Do you think those ghost stories here are true?” Louise asked but is facing the 2nd floor landing.
“Like that?”
“Ahhhhhh!!” Louise instantly run and shouted while Sean was just laughing.
