Chapter 3: Aftermath Part 2

BEEP... BEEP... BEEP... BEEP...

Slamming the alarm clock into pieces was a daily occurrence in Ren's morning routine, especially today as it marks the first day of a new school year. Reaching out for his phone to check the date he let out a big groan when he realized what day it is today. Rubbing away the sleep from his face and getting up from bed, he headed towards his bathroom. His whole body felt heavy as he walked towards his destination, along with the slight headache is making his day even worse.

However, this didn't stop him as he got ready normally. He stopped in front of the mirror as he was heading out of the shower. The mark on his chest catching his eye. This made him remember the events that happened in the last few weeks.

He woke up in the hospital. He lost control of his powers for a bit. The talk with his parents with some people he doesn't even know was annoying, to say the least. And to top it all of, they kept on repeating a name which he didn't bother remembering that was to become his "maid" for a disclosed time; and he is yet to meet this person.

Ren sighed and continued getting ready for school. He secured the black necktie around and under the collar of his shirt. He slipped on his shoes and worn his coat. It was a dark gray with gold stripe trimmings on the edges of the collar down to the end of the coat then around it, and a little bit of here and there in the seams of the coat. The academy logo is embroidered at the left chest side of the coat. He fixed his hair and headed downstairs.

After closing the curtains of his huge floor-to-ceiling windows, that take up the entire wall in the living room space of the penthouse, he arrived at his fully furnished kitchen and what welcomed him was a ready-made breakfast on the island counter.

It was still warm and steaming with hot and crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, hashbrown, a decent stack of blueberry pancakes, some toast and butter, and a pitcher of cold orange juice. A note was placed beside the meal. It said in neat handwriting, "Dig in and there is a bottle of strawberry milk in the fridge". No signature nor a name was indicating who left it.

Ren wondered who made breakfast for him until he guessed it was left by his so-called new maid. There was no one in sight in the entire apartment so he asked himself, "where is she?".

Not contemplating on it any longer than he should he sat down and ate his meal peacefully. After finishing all of it down to the last bite, he went to the fridge to get the supposed beverage, and sure enough there it was. Contrary to popular belief, strawberry milk is actually Ren's favorite drink, which is a known secret only his family and close friends know.

He sticks a straw on the bottle and enjoyed his drink. He grabbed his bag that was conveniently on the counter beside his breakfast and headed out to the door.

However, his steps were halted when he opened his main door to reveal an icy and sophisticated girl standing right outside his door. Ren was shocked by the sudden appearance, however, his facial expression didn't give this away. He remained calm and composed as he stares at the girl before him.

"Who is she?", he thought to himself. Soon he realized that this might be the person his parents talked about. The supposed so-called maid of his. He placed his hands in his pockets and started to survey her appearance.

Jet black-colored hair that stops below her thighs. Her eyes piercing and cold as if she can see through your soul. She reaches just below Ren's ear level, which is amazing in and of itself considering his height was 195 centimeters. Her face showed no expression of her current mood. She gives out an aura of elegance, grace, and power.

As Ren continued to stare at the individual he noticed that she was also wearing the same uniform as the school he goes to. So he thought, "She goes to the academy. I've never seen her before. She must be a transferee then, but why does she look familiar to me."

He pondered about this for a little longer as he fixated his gaze on her face. Soon as if a lightbulb popped on top of his head, he began to glare at her and sneered, "You..."

The girl quietly bowed her head and greeted her new master. "Good morning Master," greeted the girl. She stood back up and said, "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Calypso Anna Rene and I am your servant. Order upon me of anything and I will serve you to my utmost capabilities."

Ren was stupefied by her submissiveness. It's like she is a completely different person from that night at the club. The girl in front of him gives off an air of warmth and impeccable talent like she can do almost anything. However, if you look into her eyes it would give off a different vibe. It's like a combination of an icy blizzard and a raging typhoon.

"The car is waiting for you downstairs, shall we head out now?" The girl asked as she gestured towards the private elevator at the end of the hall which leads directly to the underground parking lot.

Ren scoffed and smirked. "You really don't want to be here, do you?" He taunted after hypothesizing the reason behind the difference between the glare in her eyes and her demure stature.

He believes that the girl, Calypso, is just putting on an act and that she and her people wanted this to happen from the very beginning. Ever since the meeting between his family and hers started that was the only thing on his mind. So, he made a promise to himself to make her yearn for death.

"You are absolutely correct, Master" she answered mildly. Her face looking sullen of that fact but her eyes gave out a dark color for a second. Proving that she despises being here.

He was surprised by her honest answer nevertheless he will use this to his advantage. He sardonically smiled and said, "Whatever, here..." After saying this, he placed his bag on top of her head and left. The bag staying perfectly still.

Inside Calpyso's head, she was internally screaming, "Did that ash-hole just put his bag on my head? Like. what the FORK?!" She breathed in and out to calm herself. Taking the bag down from her head, she followed after her master. It wasn't a long walk to the elevator but when she arrived in front of it. The doors slid shut with a smirking Ren already inside.

So, once again, she was screeching profanities in her head. She took a deep breath after the internal rage. Calypso then teleported herself right in front of the private elevator in the underground parking lot.

After a few minutes, the elevator dinged pronouncing its arrival to its destination. The doors opened and revealed a shocked Ren on one side, as well as, an unimpressed Calypso on the other.

"How did you - ?!" Ren started to say but stopped, "Weren't... you just...?" he started again as he pointed upwards and to Calypso back and forth, completely puzzled.

Calypso couldn't stop the sly smile from coming as she bowed her head slightly, moved out of the way, and said, "Shall we go, Master?" Lost for words, Ren huffed and stomped his way towards the awaiting vehicle.

Joe, the driver, and bodyguard greeted Ren happily with a smile as he holds the door open for his grumpy master.

"Good morning, young master Ren!" he said, as he watched Ren took a seat inside the car and slammed the door shut himself. Joe sighed, used to his master's tantrums. He lifted his gaze towards the approaching figure and gave a slight nod of his head as a greeting which Calypso did as well.

"Are we ready to go?" he asked her.

"I suppose so," she answered as she stared at Ren through the window. She has this vacant look on her face but you can definitely see in her eyes that she's undoubtedly annoyed.

Joe chuckled as he observed the girl standing there. "Don't worry. He's not so bad once you get to know him." He reassured her.

"I highly doubt that," she whispered to herself. Joe heard it nonetheless as he snickered at the girl's comment.

He cleared his throat to get her attention and said politely, "Well, shall we get going then? Time's ticking."

Calypso realizing that she was still aimlessly standing outside the car, stumbled to say, "Oh, yes! Of course, let's go." She walked around to the other side of the car, getting in, and then closing the door after. Joe following her lead got in the driver's seat as well, and soon they were leaving the underground parking lot.

Silence dominated the entire car as it drove past the scenery of trees and students walking on the sidewalk. It contrasted the raging thoughts of a certain dragon prince. Ren's thoughts were in disarray with plots and ideas on how to make his servant's life "suffer", and the first step to his plan is to get more information about her. The things that were said in the meeting at that time weren't enough. He needs to know more so he can make to most effective plot to make her miserable. And he knows the perfect person who can get the job done.

Calypso turned her head when she heard her master snickering to himself with an evil gleam in his eyes. She could see the dark aura that was surrounding him. She could think of a hundred possibilities why Ren's acting creepy, but there is one obvious reason. A reason so dumb is giving her a headache. She sighed throwing away the thought that Ren is planning her demise and looking out the window,

She watched the passing buildings, and loitering students here and there as the car drove towards the main campus building. They have a few more minutes left until they reached their destination. As she was observing the clouds above the trees a thought came up that brought a pleasant smile to her face.

Everything is going according to plan.
