[93] The Poet and his Muse

Faye and the others rushed after the nurse into the emergency room –who led them through a door which took them to corridor. They turned a few corners until they reached a ward and they found Leith, fully awake but lying there, staring at the ceiling, bored.

Faye stepped forward and walked slowly towards him, and when he spotted her he sat up a little, his eyes twinkling with joy and a broad smile crawling over his face. Faye shed a tear before realising he shed one too, and she rushed towards him to drop herself unto the side of the bed and hug him tightly.

“You idiot,” she whispered to him. She placed her head on his chest to feel his heartbeat and she shook slightly –more internally than on the obvious exterior- She listened to his breathing for a moment as it steadied, “Don’t ever scare me like that again.”

Leith squeezed her tight before loosening his grip to rub her bad. “I can’t make promise like that that I won’t be able to keep.”
