[97] Belief Becomes Reality

Faye held her breath, trying to keep herself alert. She looked around, realising now that the fight was more than just a battle of physical violence. It was becoming strategic. She focused her vision on Guardians channelling energy into a game of football against a group of Seguidores in the distance, and a bunch of Guardians were swapping others away with cricket and baseball bats.

She wanted to laugh, but she couldn’t bring her mouth to move. She could feel her own heartbeat... she could somehow hear it. Her shoulder was paining her, and she looked over to realise it was still bleeding pretty badly. She could no longer look down at the body beside her. She didn’t want to. She didn’t want to process this at all. She didn’t want it to be true.
