[98] A Backup Plan

Leith had stayed up in Academy One with his sister and the others in an attempt to get everyone proper medical attention. When he saw that this was being done successfully, he sought to leave, back to the battlefield. He grabbed his journal and headed off. He wondered how Faye was doing... he wasn’t there to see the new army she’d gathered. He stood out in the parking lot and began to think as mundane as he could, but just before he could leave he heard a subtle voice saying, “Leith, wait!”

“Huh?” he turned, confused. Monroe was descending towards him.

“Do you know me?” she asked with a small smile.

“Muse of Arts in Writing,” he replied, bowing. “To what do I owe the honour?”

Monroe landed on her feet, ready with a message he hadn’t seen coming.

“Leith, there’s something you’ve done... and it’s holding Faye back from showing her true potential,” she said.

“What? I did something? What’s that, now?” He wondered, startled.
