The Calm

Miranda opened her eyes and winced in pain she had been falling in and out of consciousness throughout the day. She looked up and wondered where she was before remembering that she had been told several times over the past few hours. Each time she woke up she forgot everything and everyone for minutes before memories rushed back into her head making her dizzy.

She felt stronger and better and could even move her hands and legs. Something smelt terrible and she had not been able to detect what was smelling. She ringed the button by her side and a nurse came running in.

"Hey, you're awake."

Miranda looked at the nurse, she seemed friendly as she peered into her face while retelling her where and who she was. The Doctor appeared shortly and repeated the same routine and while doing a quick physical check-up.

An elderly woman ran into the room almost taking the door of its hinges

"Miranda! Mimi!? My baby!"

"Mom?"
