Chapter 19- The disobedient woman

Robert Mills’s expression darkened, and he clenched and unclenched his jaws to suppress his anger. He wouldn’t let go of the person easily who dared to hurt her. “Alright. Don’t cry anymore. It’s late now. Go and get some sleep.” He patted her head and comforted her.

Abigail nodded and strode to her room, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. He stared at her retreating back until she entered her room. Then he took the phone out of his pocket and dialed a number. When the call connected, he said coldly with his authoritative tone, “Check what happened at the get-together party that Abi attended. I want the man who dared to touch her to be punished.”

After hearing an affirmative response from the other end of the phone, he hung up the call and headed straight to his study.

…….

The next morning, Aidan reached Erica’s villa and pressed the doorbell impatiently.

Ding dong… Ding dong… Ding dong...

His expression was ugly, and his body language had a dangerous momentum. The anger was apparent on his face. His eyes were bloodshot, and he looked really scary. Right now, he could kill anyone who dared to offend him.

Erica slept very late last night as she couldn’t accept that her plan had failed miserably. Her sleep was yet to complete, and she didn’t want to get up so early, but the doorbell kept on ringing, disturbing her sleep. She groaned with irritation and got out of the bed. Her eyes were burning, and she couldn’t open them properly. Her blonde hair was messy, which looked like a bird’s nest. With her eyes half-open, half-closed, she dragged her lazy body to the door and opened it.

“Who the hell are you?”

She didn’t even see clearly the person standing on the doorstep. But she couldn’t complete her sentence when the man grabbed her arm tightly and pushed her inside.

Erica’s sleepiness vanished instantly, and she looked at the man with her wide eyes. She was caught off guard to see Aidan so early in the morning in her villa.

“Aidan? Why are you here? Ah… You are hurting me.” Her nose wrinkled, and she hissed in pain.

But Aidan’s grip on her arm only grew tighter. Grinding his teeth, he squeezed out the next words, “You are sleeping here comfortably after putting me in such trouble. Why did you turn off your phone? How dare you try to hurt Abigail? Didn’t I warn you not to meddle with her? Why the hell did you do that? Since when did you become so disobedient? Erica, don’t forget that if I can make you a top model, I can also throw you in hell. This is the last warning. Don’t ever try to get in my way.”

Erica was also angry when she figured out that he came here to reprimand her because of Abigail. She pulled her arm back forcefully and sneered, “So, you really care about her. You kept saying that you love me, and I am the only one in your heart. But look at you… now you are bickering with me for her.” She let out a bitter chuckle and added, “You can’t see your future wife in pain. Isn’t it, Aidan?”

“Shut up, you stupid woman,” He snarled. His eyes burning in rage. He yanked her arm again and snapped, “Because of the stunt you pulled at the party, Mr. Mills filed a police complaint against Andy, and the police took him in remand. Andy spilled out everything within thirty minutes of interrogation. He also revealed about our relationship. Luckily, the officer in charge is a friend of mine, and he called me before informing Mr. Mills.” He pulled her a little closer to him and added fiercely, “If this news gets out, your career will be ruined within a snap of a finger. You can’t find a job in this entire country. Why didn’t you think about the consequences before you do something?”

Erica’s face turned pale and terror spread on her face. She didn’t think that Andy could spill out everything to the police. She had done so many things to get success in her career. She even didn’t hesitate to sleep with many influential men, and Aidan was one of them. Now that she had become the topmost model, she couldn’t let her career be destroyed at any cost. Anger and jealousy towards Abigail blinded her, and she did something very stupid that she shouldn’t do.

Although she was dating Aidan, she couldn’t compare herself with Abigail. The Mills family was a powerful and influential family in the city M, and she couldn’t afford to offend them. She covered her mouth with her shaky hands and murmured, “What have I done? This can’t happen.” She looked up at Aidan and pleaded, “Aidan, please help me this time. I promise I will never do such stupid things again in the future. I will be obedient to you. Please help me this time, please…”

Aidan pushed her down, and she fell to the ground in a sorry state. She shed tears quietly, looking down at the floor. He sneered, “Now you realized what mistake you have made. If you still don’t realize it, I will tell the truth to Mr. Mills. I will also tell him that you are jealous of Abigail because you have feelings for me, and you are harassing me to date you for a long time. And if you really want to rectify your mistake, send Andy out of this country. I don’t want to see him here. Do you understand?”

Erica grabbed his legs and said, looking up at him, “Yes, I understand. I will do whatever you say, but please don’t tell anything about this to Mr. Mills. I don’t want my career to be ruined.” Tears streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably.

He crouched down and pinched her chin hard. Looking at her scornfully, he said ferociously, “Didn’t I tell you that you are the only woman I like? Why didn’t you believe me? Do you know what I hate the most? The disobedient woman. I don’t like a woman like you who goes against my will.”

Pushing her away, he stood up and turned to leave, but she grabbed his leg and pleaded again, “No, no, Aidan. Don’t leave me. I really love you. I can’t live without you. I will be obedient to you. Please give me a chance.”

He pulled his leg back and said coldly, “Atone your mistakes, Miss Barrette, and don’t contact me for a few days. I will think later if I am willing to continue this relationship or not.” He stormed out of the villa after dropping those words without sparing a glance at her.

When Abigail woke up, she heard her father shouting at someone. She frowned and got out of the bed. She hurried out of the room and looked down at the source of the commotion. She saw her father pacing back and forth cursing and scolding all the time while Aidan was sitting on the couch, hanging down his head.

“How could he get bail? How can the police release a rapist like him so easily? I will make him and his family suffer.” Robert Mills was fuming in anger.

Aidan raised his head to look at him and said, “Please, calm down. Your blood pressure will increase. Abi will be sad if you fall sick. Let me handle this matter. I promise I will not let him go easily. Now calm down and sit for a while.” Then his eyes perceived the sight of Abigail on the second floor, looking at them, holding the railing tight.

“Abi, you wake up.” He got up from the couch and walked up to her.

Robert Mills stopped pacing and looked up at her. His angry expression was replaced by concern the moment his eyes landed on her. She looked fresh. Her face no longer looked swollen. He heaved a sigh of relief. He wanted to go to her, but after seeing Aidan walk to her, he decided to not disturb them. He saw Aidan holding her hands and talking something very intimately. He looked away from them and went to the study.

Aidan reached out to caress her face, looking dotingly at her. “Honey, I am sorry that you have to go through such pain. I will definitely punish that bastard even if the police didn’t punish him. I will make his life a living hell.” He pulled her into his embrace and continued speaking, “Oh, baby, I was so worried about you. But I am a little upset with you as well. Why haven’t you told me? If Robert had not called me, I wouldn’t have found out about it.” He released her and asked, looking suspiciously at her, “Are you mad at me?”

Abigail shook her head and looked down at her toes. She said slowly, “I was tired last night.”

“Oh, darling.” He cupped her face and kissed her forehead. Then he added, “I understand. You should get some more rest.”

“I am fine, Aidan.” She raised her head to look at him and asked, “Are you not late for office?”

Aidan frowned and his expression changed to incredulity. He asked, “What? Are you chasing me out? I thought you want to spend time with me, so I canceled all the morning meetings. Now I am sure that you are angry with me.”

‘Aidan canceled meetings for me?’ Abigail murmured in her mind with disbelief and cast a surprised look at him, her eyebrows knitted tight. This was not less than a shock for her. But she was not happy at all after hearing this. In fact, she felt annoyed. She asked, narrowing her eyes, “Why did you cancel the meetings? Don’t blame me later if you suffer losses.” She turned around and walked back to her room.
