March 28th, 0001:
Finally, having finished the expansion of the settlement, the only thing I could think about right now was to begin planning the setting up of another settlement and teaching the most basic Spanish words I could to the children, mainly relating to expressing emotion as that something they would use a lot.
Educating the people living in the settlement was mainly to accelerate the process of getting everyone to learn Spanish and finally getting rid of the biggest hurdle I currently faced to advance the settlement forward, quick and understandable communication, to an extent at least.
As for why I wanted to expand so much, it was because as we continued to advance technologically, I had begun to notice that the amount of material we needed to continue moving forward was also beginning to increase at an alarming rate, making it so that getting more people that would able to work became a priority.
And although it was true that expanding a fast rate would make it so that we, in theory, would need a lot more trees to feed everyone than what was already estimated, now that I had stopped to think about it, I had realized that chances were that there would not be that many other people around this area.
Mainly because humans only began to rise in numbers in a relatively concise amount of time as soon as they established themselves as the apex predators. And from what I could see from the nomads I encountered, they weren't even the apex predators here yet, so chances were that the human population was still small.
And although I was certainly capable of just walking far enough away from where the settlement that I was no longer able to see it and set up another one there, that wouldn't do as it would be too close to where we currently were to attract more nomads, at least not enough to make building a new settlement worth it. Meaning that I could have to come up with a way to take materials somewhere at least 2 miles away in a short amount of time and without too much effort.
Thankfully since I made the settlement right next to a river, I could just make a boat to travel the distance, the only problem though, was that although the river was certainly wide enough to fit in two small-ish boats, the depth of the river wasn't too deep, however, so if I really wanted to use it, I would have to make the river deeper by removing the layer of rocks and dirt on top.
For now, though, since it was only 6 AM, I would have to wait for everyone to wake up before I put anyone to work on that. Regarding education, I could start working on that as soon as I was done with my workout and got everything else in motion.
Honestly, since the whole goal would be to get them to start using basic phrases to indicate what they wanted someone to do or just expressing what they were feeling, there was really no point to try and teach them the alphabet as that was only really useful if you were ever planning to read or write.
Plus, since I didn't have to worry about teaching them letters, I could simply just teach them through images and actions; it would still not be that easy though, as I would still have to teach them how to pronounce the words I taught them. After all, it's easier to understand a language than to speak it.
As soon as everyone was awake, I let them have breakfast while I spent the rest of the time making shovels out of wood, except that this time instead of being hastily made, I could cave two pieces that would connect like a plastic broom.
To my surprise, as soon as I looked away from the finished wooden shovels, I saw that everyone had already gathered where I was. It seemed that they had gotten used to having to gather up every morning to be told what to do, or maybe they just saw that I had built something weird again and could tell that I was planning something.
For some reason, I felt slightly sad, like I had become predictable; it was weird; I didn't know how to explain it. Regardless, I just ended up pointing at the shovels and then at them until they realized that they had to get the shovels.
Once they did, all that was left to do was just to begin shoveling out the rock layer at the top of the river until they did as I was doing, which thankfully was almost immediately. So once I sorted that, I gathered all of the kids and gestured for them to follow me.
I decided to spend the rest of the day making them repeat basic words they could use to describe their emotions like happy, sad, angry, you know, things like that. I didn't try and overload them with information because I knew that language, especially at the start, is learned through repetition.
The entire time though, my mind was somewhere else thinking about how I could get a boat to function made purely from wood. And while I would usually have just spent some RP getting answers from the system, I still needed to get some RP to buy myself some more time, so for now, I was simply stuck with no answers; I could only hope that I could get some RP soon...
