March 29th, 0001:
Today started as usual. It seemed that the orange seeds had finally begun to grow as well, as three more orange seeds had begun to show roots. So after watering all of them, I went over to the other side of the river.
Once I was there, I had to make sure that I planted all three 25ft away from each other since the system told me that, on average orange trees took up an area of 20ft x 20ft, and I didn't want the plants to be touching to try and avoid the spread of pests.
Once I did that, I waited for everyone to finish their breakfast before making them follow me back to the river. It was only once we were at the river that I had noticed that although they had removed the layer of rock, once they had made it to the bottom and reached the dirt, they just began clearing out the rock layer in both directions.
This was understandable as I had not given them clear enough directions; since I knew that it would be hard to explain just how deep I wanted them to make the river, I just began removing the lock layer going in a southward motion making it so that half of the people joined me in what I was doing. In contrast, the rest went north; since I was planning to make the river southward though, I made it so that everyone got to work on the southward side.
Afterward, pointing southward before shouting the words ' get as much done as you can' as loud as I could and taking the children over to the 'dining area' to continue the vocalization of the same words we had been practicing yesterday as although they were able to say it in a way that was barely understandable much like the other words they knew, I wanted them to become proficient.
As I taught, I began to think about how exactly I would make a boat, and although I planned to spend as little RP as possible, I understood that I would have to spend some RP getting the depth required for the type of boat I ended up making to float, as I would probably end up making that RP back once I got the boat working.
Regarding how I would make the boat, although I remember that my uncle Lucho tried to teach me how to make a boat when we visited the coasts of Ica, I was honestly not paying attention since I thought that information was redundant. Meaning that I was stuck with just my really superficial knowledge.
I ended up deciding to just base of the boat I would be made purely off of a normal fisherman's boat, which, if I remembered correctly, could easily carry two people on it, meaning that at the very least, I would be able to transport a couple of wooden beams across the river in one go.
As for how the boat would actually look like since I was basing it purely off of the appearance of a normal fishing boat, I just planned to make a 12ft by 4ft and made of three pieces connected not only suing as much wood joinery as possible but also by using the seats and the floor used by the passengers to connect all three pieces.
That would be a slightly longer-term project though, as I was currently stuck teaching the children how to speak, thankfully though as I had basically been autopiloting everything and just been stuck in my own thoughts, time flew, and before I knew it was already lunchtime. So I was done teaching the children, meaning that I could start work on the boat asap.
Before I did so, I began walking along the river to see the work that everyone else had done in my absence. And as I walked, I occasionally encountered people that had been taking slightly longer than others to make it back to the settlement, with one of them seemingly stabbing at the water with his shovel slightly far away.
I was immediately intrigued and ran over to where they were to see what was happening, only to find that a group of fish was traveling past his area of the river and that he was just trying to kill one so that he could eat it. Although I honestly found it rather amusing since we already had meat back at the settlement, I suppose that eating only Suri, puma, and jaguar meat got pretty boring after a while, especially since we had no spices.
It was then a thought suddenly came to me, 'would I get RP if I taught them how to fish?' And although I had absolutely no idea if I would, it was worth a try, plus, even if it didn't, teaching them how to fish would still be a positive as it would increase the amount of meat option we had when it came to what we ate.
Getting the materials needed to fish wasn't too difficult as it was just a more loosely made blanket, which was easier to make as it did not require as much care to make. Once I did that, I grabbed my ax and made my way over to the river making everyone follow me.
From there, I just waited for fish to arrive, holding my leaf net open and letting it go all the way down to the bottom of the river. And once I see some arriving at my right, I just moved over there and held the bottom of the net down to the ground with my feet before closing both ends together around the fish as soon as they hit my waist (The water now went up to my waist).
Finally, once I had them caught, I knew that it was only a matter of time before come escaped through the bottom, so I grabbed both ends with one hand and grabbed my ax on the normal ground floor before killing 4 out of the 7 fish in there and then letting the rest go.
