Medicinal Plants

"Congratulations host, despite how long it took you to get this far, you managed to turn this group of nomads into the apex predators within this area of the land."

'115 Rp, I assume?'

"That would be correct, host."

"Alright, could you clarify what you mean by 'within this area' though?"

"Well, host, although the people within the settlement are certainly are considered unbeatable and unthreatened here, within the wilderness they would still be pray to everything around them, it's not only animals that kill you know..."

'Oh, so basically, the only way we would ever be able to stand at the true apex we would also need the medicine and firepower required to nullify all deadly aspects of the amazon?'

"Correct, regardless, is there anything else you want to do, or are you just making small talk to waste time."

'Right, about that, could you happen to send me to the system sto-'

Before I could finish what I was saying, I was once again transported to the system library, and although I did find it sot of annoying, the system did not deny my request, so I suppose that it just is what it is.

I knew for a fact that there was no information on how to make medicine from herbs nearby, but what I did know is that there was a lot of knowledge regarding different types of plants I encountered, and more importantly, their effects.

After looking for a while I encountered a knowledge under the name of 'the deadly and the lifesaving' in the agriculture section, so after confirming with the system that it was what I was looking for, I bought it for the rather high price of 100 RP, leaving me with only 17 RP left.

As soon as I returned to reality, I was basically immobilized because although I could move, it took a very long while for me to do so. Since I was still breathing normally, I decided to sleep and hopefully wake up once things got better.

After sleeping for just two hours, I was only moving somewhat slowly and was beginning to access the knowledge. Only then did I realize why the knowledge was so expensive and why I had been almost unable to move when I returned.

Although the knowledge itself was a collection of pretty basic images of the planta with some descriptive factors and a basic overview of what they were able to do, be it good or bad, it was just the sheer amount of plants with bad effects that I didn't even know existed that made the knowledge so vast.

And at the current moment, to me and everyone else, most would be deadly as well, looking and it now I had been surrounded and almost touched some plants that would have infected my skin and caused serious damage, it was honestly a miracle that I had managed to survive for this long.

Regardless, although I had no real need for any of the medicinal plants as I did not know exactly what illnesses it was that the people in both settlements were suffering from, it wouldn't hurt to collect as many as I could, plus perhaps there would be some among them that would just be generally good at suppressing a symptom.

The only real problem with going to search for medicinal was that although I knew the effects of different plants, I could only search for one or two at a time sine any more than that would be too much to keep track of.

Thankfully though, I could just sit down and think of which plants and fruits to look for, first deciding to look for some that could help with coughs as I noticed that there were currently two people in the settlement that seemed to suffer from some level of respiratory illness.

Surprisingly apparently, passion fruit was actually rather useful in combating respiratory symptoms like coughing, asthma, and wheezing, only being able to alleviate them, of course; apart from that, it couldn't do too much to help combat the actual illness.

So, having a fruit in mind, I made my way into the wilderness, leaving markings back to the settlement on the trees until I finally encountered a large concentration of vines. From there, I only grabbed 10 of them before returning to the settlement.

Although I knew that I could have just taken all of them back to the settlement, I only truly needed 2 to give them to the people who needed them back at the original settlement, so grabbing 8 more just for seeds was already a pretty big waste.

Plus, by letting the rest of the fruits stay there, they are more likely to last for long as right now, it is guaranteed that a fruit that stays connected to the plant will be rotting more slowly than one that has already been separated.

Regardless, once I sorted everything out, I still had time to look for another herb; however, I preferred to make more arrows. It had become apparent that although they were durable after being constantly shot during practices every day, they wore out rather fast.

It was a good thing that they often broke though, because they were breaking directly correlated to overuse and not so much low durability. Whenever an arrow broke, it was either because the wooden body broke or the clay gave in.

This made me able to easily make new ones with ease as the two hard to obtain materials the arrow were made out of, although slightly worn out, were, for the most part, usually still reusable for at least one repair.

Regardless, as usual, the day came to an end; I began to get ready to go to sleep as I would end up having to teach the people in the new settlement how to use a bow and arrow as well, after all, the more that knew how to defend their settlement the better it would be for everyone.
