Chosen One

The apartment was the same as she had left behind in the morning. It was clean and dull and normal, nothing more nothing less. After taking off her shoes in the entrance she wore a pair of simple slipper as she entered her bedroom. As she was changing her dress she again felt the piercing gaze behind her. Once or twice could have been an illusion but the fact that she was still feeling it and it was more intense than before brought a flash of doubt and suspicion in her eyes.

Even if they were planning to rob her house there was nothing important and precious here so she waved off that possibility. Working the whole day had already made her tired as hell so she was not in the shape to play detective at the moment. Ignoring whatever she was thinking she changed into her shorts and T-shirt. She directly went to the kitchen to cook some food to gain back her energy and vitality.

7 : 00 pm

She looked in satisfaction at the foods she had just cooked. White rice was neatly served in a porcelain bowl with a spicy chicken curry. Two extra side dishes were also placed there looking appetizing. One thing she had learned in her life was whatever we do, all the hard work done and the money earned it was all to eat a good food. So she had loved cooking ever since she was little and her love for eating food was even greater than her love for cooking. While she was sitting down and enjoying her dinner with a content look somewhere her whole data and information was being displayed in a screen.

Name: Choi Mina

Age: 30

Family and Relatives: As good as dead

Education: Masters in Business Administration

Useful Skill: A skilled planner

Additional skill: Poker face

The hand that was scrolling suddenly paused as it looked at the additional skill. 'Poker face huh'. That was something new. A small chuckle escaped from the mouth as the scrolling continued.

Little unimportant information was shown when suddenly a blurred out section appeared. There was supposed to be the events of her past but it couldn't be accessed. It was only possible if there was a bug in the system or there was even a stronger barrier around those memories that couldn't be invaded by the system they had. 'This woman is even more interesting than I had expected.'

8 : 00 pm

A clubhouse in the Seoul city.

A handsome man sat in a couch as he held a glass of wine in his hand sipping it lazily as he glanced at his watch. "Do you have somewhere you have to go? You have been looking at your watch for 10 times already."

"Found yourself a little girlfriend huh", the man teasingly winked at him.

Seeing the man not giving any response Kang Jihun also lost his interest to pry further. "Jihun" the man called out in a low voice. "Hmm??"

"If I say this might be our last meeting and you mightn't ever remember me then do you believe me?"

"Of course I don't you bastard." Kang Jihun replied almost immediately as he laughed in a loud voice. "If you die first I will burn incense for you and if I die first I will be calling you from hell." Jihun added a few more silly remarks. "I know you will." The man replied with the same enthusiasm as Kang had only his voice contained a bit of heaviness.

9: 00 pm

Mina had done almost all the chores and returned the apartment to the same tidiness before. As she was planning to retire to bed a package on the study table caught her sight.

"I almost forgot the little guy there" Mina stretched her hand to grab the lonely box. She sat on her bed and looked at the parcel. No matter how much she looked at it it was weird and it got weirder as the time ticked away." Since I already took this why to hesitate now", Mina thought, 'being afraid was so unlikely her.'

She opened it without any expectation and she was right to not have any expectation because all she was an old notebook that looked worn out and could fall down into pieces even if slight force was used. It looked ordinary from the outside. Someone was probably playing prank on her and they succeeded. She gave thumbs up to whoever it was for making a fool out of her. She was gonna throw it away when she saw her name being written in the first page. 'Looking inside won't hurt I guess plus I have plenty of time to waste right now.'

Turning to the next page even more surprised her as she saw all of her basic information listed. There was name, age, profession, blood group, horoscopes and even her measurements. Was she being stalked and watched by a perverted psycho? At her age? She looked around the room to see any abnormality and expressed a sigh of relief as she found none.

The next page seemed like a Question answer round. She was indifferent first but now she looked like a kid who got the best doll as she leaned over the book to answer the questions asked but Mina wasn't the only one excited. The figure who was monitoring her every movement looked with interest as the questions were answered one by one.

NB: If you had to choose between reality and fiction, what would you choose?

Mina: fiction

NB: which is better? Laughing or crying?

Since she herself rarely laughed or cried she really didn't know which was better. She had heard laughing means happiness and crying means sadness but she had seen angry and sad and mad people laughing their heads off at times and people crying in happy moments. Human emotion was complicated. Still she felt the need to answer the question as she wrote…

Mina: crying

NB: Brain or Brawn?

Mina: both

But she couldn't write it. She was in doubt as she chose to write Brain which was accepted as soon as her pen touched the paper.

NB: Dancing or Singing?

She was good at neither but the notebook didn't accept her answer confirming her doubt. 'God, This notebook has its own brain' she shouted in her mind keeping a calm and poker face exteriorly.

After doing some questions she had already begun to have some suspicion regarding the book. Rather than feeling afraid and fear she felt a kind of excitement from deep within her bones. She wanted to know what this entire thing was about.

She hurriedly chose singing. She will come to regret it in future but that thing is for future right?

Mina: singing

"Hey book you are actually alive right?"

The book flinched but it calmed down without Mina noticing it. Getting no response she decided to try once all her answers were finished.

"She is pretty smart. I like her." The figure claimed with a slight chuckle.

'Declining the answers like that and acting suspiciously will definitely blow up the cover. It's not that she is smart the book was a little dumb,' A man thought to himself as he listened to his master who was glued to the screen.

NB: Would you kill or heal?

Mina was decisive as she answered: Kill

Finally she reached the last question; both she and the figure watching her were extra attentive.

NB: what do you think about a man with horn?

She replied without thinking twice.

Mina: Horny

Note Book: "..."

The person glued to screen: "...…"

After realizing what she had said, Mina: "...…"

The only one who reacted was the man standing near that person who laughed as he pointed at the two black horns on his masters head. "She called you horny" and he burst out laughing as the tears fell out of his eyes because his stomach hurt too much from laughing.

He had been called different names but this was the first time when someone called him horny. The man looked at his reflection on a mirror and murmured, "Does having horn really make me horny?" But he had remained abstinent till now.

The notebook regained its composure as it turned itself to next page. Probably because she was a little out of it because of the incident before she didn't notice this action and only looked at the words written there.

It read, "Congratulations on passing the first round of selection." "What selection?!" Mina looked in confusion as the page turned and a new section of question was presented before her but it was different from the one before as the terms used here were quite unfamiliar to her.

1) Please choose your energy attribute

-fire -water -earth -wind - lightening

Mina looked at the five elemental attribute shown and decided to go with lightening. She had always loved lightening from her childhood.

2) Please choose your weapon

-Sword -lance - spear - club - bow and arrow

Mina didn't know much about weapon so she just randomly chose a club. A message appeared in the notebook as she tried to choose the club.

[The weapon doesn't match your attribute. You are suggested to change your preferences.]

[Recommended: sword or bow and arrow]

She wasn't sure but she felt better picking bow and arrow.

3) Are you sure about your choices?

- Yes = No

Mina directly chose yes. She didn't know how and what but her life was going to change slowly. It might be good it might be bad but she was ready to take the chance.

The book disappeared into thin air as a message appeared in the middle of air.

[CONGRATULATIONS FOR BEING SELECTED AS THE CHOSEN ONE]

As she stared in disbelief at the words before her a mechanical voice rang in her head ...she tried to listen to it but felt her head getting heavier by the moment. All she could hear was ….binding in progress…..host...….. compatible...beep beep …success. Before she could hear everything she fell in a deep endless sleep.

12 : 00 am

A new day was beginning.
