Chapter 23

Zvezda came asking for my help so we left for Mermoria. I walked out of the portal to see an old dragon was on the floor. He was rolling around in pain. His brothers managed to soothe him. I cut my arm and extended it towards him. The dragon roared as he changed back to Arroyo and drank from my arm. I saw that one of his eyes was missing. It smoked badly and pulsed like crazy. The cut healed and the bleeding stopped. I asked the nearest dragon who did this. Shen said that it was a goblin. They wanted to use dragon's eye for some sort of nonsense. I lowered my head to hide my tears when I saw the ring Angharad gave me. I knew that I could use it to find the eye.

I pulled the ring out of my finger and placed it on his face and then I flicked it. Shen asked me what I was doing. I said I am tracking the eye. They saw a red string come out of the ring showing the way and they all followed it as well. We ended up on goblin underground city. The string kept going till stopped in the middle of a cave. We found the eye placed in a stone tablet. I tried to take it but it won't come with me. So I snuck out to find out what was going on. The goblins were discussing how they were going to make the staff. It would control all the dragons. They said to be sure it is not the eye of a vampire. If it is not a dragon's eye the spell won't work. The young goblin swore that it from the oldest dragon himself. He has placed it on the stone tablet and the only way the eye can be removed is if it is replaced with another eye.

So I came back to see the dragons place tug of war with the eye. I told Zvezda to take my eye and place it on the table. He asked why and I told them what was going on. I held on to Yuri as Shen gently removed my right eye. He stopped the bleeding by breathing some sort smoke. It felt cold for a moment but the pain stopped swiftly. I placed my eye on the table and Shen was able to take Arroyo's eye back. They were all smiling as they came back and healed their brother. The dragons thanked me for my help. They eyed the ring with great interest. Drakov was sad that I had to sacrifice my eye for it. He said that he will find a way to fix it.

I went back to my office in Montezuma and was told that the goblin residence had a mishap. They were trying to create some sort of disaster but it back fired on them. They used the wrong ingredients and set their palace on fire. Everyone noticed that I was missing an eye. The gypsies gave me an eye patch that Drakov threw away immediately. He said that he will find a way to make up for my eye. He had an immense amount of guilt.

William asked what happened and I told him everything. The goblins stealing Arroyo's eye to create a staff to control the dragons. How I replaced his eye with mine. So the spell backfired and set the palace on fire. William was pleased with my actions. He prayed that I get something better for what I had lost. An hour later Alina said that one of the guests wish to speak to me. The elves came with a small box made of marble. They said that they were listening to my conversation with William. They appreciated my help and quick wit so they came with a token of appreciation. Inside the box was a glass eye. This has three hundred and sixty degree visibility. I see what is happening behind me as though it was happening in front of me. I see through walls too. It will take a while to adjust to this but I liked it a lot.

Shen saw my new eye and chuckled saying that it was made from a dragon that lived around the time of Drogon. A new dragon rider went blind saving the dragon eggs from a thief. So as a gift the dragons gave him the eye of a recently dead dragon. It was crafted so it will help him see again. The eye was lost during the seige of the Giants. I told him that the elves gave it to me. Arroyo promised to have a word with them. I told him to be careful from now on since the goblins might try again. He promised that it won't happen again. I had made a suggestion as my eye was being removed where the goblins are made to forget about existence of the spell. So they are going to give that a try. I said it is possible they stole a few books from the Witch Queen's personal library when the cursed fire occurred.

Shen asked me to summon Angharad to find out. She arrived with a puff of smoke. She asked me why she was here and I said the dragons would like a word with her. She apologized profusely and they accepted her apology. They then proceeded to tell her that the goblins stole books from her private collection to create problems. She was shocked to hear this. She wanted to know what the dragons wanted in exchange. They said they wanted the goblins to forget a particular spell. The one where a dragon's eye is required. She said that as part of her gratitude she will find the book and remove the page. She looked to see that I was different. She asked what was going on to which the dragons told her to mind her own business. Drakov came and the dragons stepped aside. So I told her what happened. She thanked me for my sacrifice and asked if I saw a book. I said I was hiding behind a wall and only heard them talking. I did hear a sound that resemble someone flipping through bunch of pages. So it is possible that they have stole a private collection. I placed my hand on her face and showed her the memory.

She thanked me and waved her hand. A portal opened and I saw millions of witches. She spoke to them in a bizzare language. She closed the portal and use the portal in my lobby to go wherever. An hour later I heard about an explosion that occured in the goblin's home. People were taking about how the goblins tried to expose us to humans. They cast a spell that backfired on them. It caused a fire that spread everywhere till it blew up the place. I knew Angharad did something. She is the reason they went boom. The dragons concured. She arrived a few minutes later with the book. She showed them the page and ripped it out. Arroyo burned the page to ashes. Angharad gave me my actual eye back but according to Drakov it was infused with dark magic so Shen burned it. He said that it is possible that I could go mad. The dragons weren't going to take any chances.
