A Happy Man

"Joan, smile now, why are you looking so sad?" Joan's aunt said to her as they helped her to get ready. "It's your wedding day, you should be happy and not sad." Joan gave her aunt a weak smile.

"Sister, she is just overwhelmed," Joan's mother said to her elder sister.

"Oh, don't worry you are going to be just fine," Joan's aunt gently patted her on her back, "on my wedding day, I felt overwhelmed as well. I remember thinking and asking myself if I was making the right decision, but look at me now, 32 years of marriage and there is no day that I have ever regretted marrying my husband. So long you both love each other, you will be fine."

"Love conquers all," her mother said with a smile as she smiled at Joan.

Joan sighed. She knew she wasn't getting married to Steve because she loves him, and her mother knows that. She felt like a sheep being led to the slaughter, and can't fight it.
