ISABELLE

Isabelle couldn't sleep. Which was strange as she was an excellent sleeper. If sleeping would be an Olympic sport she would have got first place. So the fact that she was unable to sleep was quite strange however in her defense it was also a strange night. It felt like the calm before the storm. And it was too quiet and peaceful tonight. The pale moonlight shone on the forest and the stars looked majestic. A sky full of stars that reached infinity. She lay on top of her makeshift bed and sighed her hands crossed behind her head. Whilst staring of into nothingness she heard the sound of feet approaching her direction. The sound of the snapping of twigs. Isabelle cautiously reached out for her wooden dagger, gripping it so tight her knuckles turned white. No one should be here this late at night. Even the guards don't inspect these areas so late, she thought to herself.

Her sage colored eyes scanned the area. As a result of her powers she had excellent eyesight and from some miles away she saw a figure, concealed by the darkness so much so that he or she looked like a walking shadow. The figure seemed to approach slowly adopting the gait of a scared person, a cautious person. "Good, they should be cautious," Isabelle thought to herself, a strange sense of pride overcoming her. The person was now closer, close enough to identify.

Isabelle was especially curious when she saw that it was boy around her age. The boy ventured through the forest, his eyes focused on the ground. If he had been focused on where he was going he wouldn't have slammed his face on a tree. She couldn't but help giggle lightly as the stranger let out a long groan of pain and clamped both hands onto his nose. The next thing accompanied was a muffled voice screaming, "Who's there?"

Normally Isabelle would've ran away or go into a fighting stance but he didn't look like a threat. So she strode over to where the boy was. They were now face to face with each other awkwardly staring into each other's eyes. The boy was considerably taller making him slightly bend his head down to look at her with a calculating gaze, hands still clamped over his face, a noticeable trickle of blood seeping through the crack of his fingers. What to say to a person whom you have met in the middle of the night and had confused with a murderer.

Then the boy did something unexpected. "Stella," he started screaming, his blood stained hands now dangling beside him, clenched into fists. Hearing this, Isabelle was going to make him shut up but before she was able to do anything she heard a slight whooshing sound behind her and looked to that direction to see a girl. Isabelle looked at the girl with disbelief. How did she magically appear out of nowhere?

The girl who Isabelle suspected was Stella approached her.

"This might look strange, well this is strange but by any chance do you have powers?" Stella asked carefully.

Isabelle let out a laugh of surprise. "So the government has employed teenagers now, huh?"

"No it's quite the opposite, Alexander and I are just like you we were hoping to find others like us," Stella explained.

"For what exactly?"

"If you come with us I'll tell you everything at my place," Stella offered. She sounded genuine.

Isabelle had good intuition, another result of her powers and these teens looked harmless. So why not join them? She didn't really have anything better to do.

"Okay let's go," Isabelle nodded in agreement.

Stella beamed in response, the skin between her eyes and forehead crinkling into starburst as she held out a hand to Isabelle and all three of them formed a circle holding hands. Stella turned her head towards Isabelle and said, "Brace yourself, I've never transported with more than one person"

Isabelle nodded wordlessly and in a matter of seconds she could feel her self being sucked into some kind of vortex
