STELLA

Alexander and Isabelle trudged slowly beside Stella silently listening to his wild stories. Stories of his mad adventures that seemed too crazy to be true. His gait, like a child. Practically bouncing with each step. His back was turned behind the trio, his head of dark curls bouncing with him as he walked forward.

And this one time I fell down the-" "Can he please shut up," Stella thought to herself.

Marcus suddenly stopped and stared at her. "Hey I heard that," he said offended.

"Hear what?" Stella asked genuinely confused, she was sure she didn't say anything aloud.

"Telepathy," Marcus said jabbing his finger at his skull.

"That is so cool," Alexander gushed. "Can you read mine?"

Isabelle patted his shoulder and replied, "For him to read you're mind you have to have a brain." Stella let out a bark of laughter before giving Isabelle a high five. "Good one," she said in between laughs.

Alexander was going to fire back but was interrupted by Marcus pushing him inside a convenience store. The door opened with the accompanying sound of a bell ringing. The group went inside the store and were greeted by silence. The store had no one inside it but was in almost perfect condition with cans of food piled in the shelves, bags of chips filling the aisles and a cooler full of beverages.

Marcus bolted towards the refrigerator and piled as many beverages as he could into his arms and then they were out of the store as quickly as they entered it. "Why are we running?" Stella asked as she was being pushed by him.

"No reason," Marcus shrugged and stopped as soon as they were a considerable distance away.

"Can we go home now," Stella said reaching her hands out for to hold. She had had enough for today. Quite enough. Alexander and Isabelle both held her hand and as Marcus was going to one can of soda fell from his hand and rolled away on the street, not stopping anytime soon. He ran to get it and Isabelle leaned forward and whispered in Stella's ear, 'I'll give you ten bucks if we leave him here." She only smiled in response.

Hand in hand they teleported to Stella's humble abode and fortunately did not fall or crash down, at best they stumbled a bit when landing.

"Ooh TV," Marcus exclaimed and turned it on only for the remote to be snatched by Stella. "Hey never heard of the word hospitality," he whined. "Save the world first, watch television later," she deadpanned.

"No we go to sleep first and then save the world," Alexander said from behind her, leaning across the wall. He looked tired, no he looked exhausted with dark circles lining his bloodshot eyes. Stella felt bad for him so she complied. "Sleep now but we wake up early," she demanded.

"Yes Ma'am," Alexander said with mock salute before slumping down against the couch and drifting off to sleep. Isabelle couldn't be seen so Stella assumed that she would be upstairs asleep as well.

"Goodnight," Stella whispered at the two sleeping figures in front of her as her fingers lingered over the light switch before finally shutting the lights off.
