Orphan

"Here you go Miss Xin." the nurse said as she passed the mirror.

"If you call me Miss Xin again the consequences won't be good."

Elena said coldly, refusing to accept the conjectures going on in her mind as she finally looked in the mirror. The time seemed to freeze as the girl looked at the mirror.

Elena looked at the face which was hers in utter shock.

"Not….Not me.."She mumbled under her breath.

The girl in the reflection was a 17 year old with skin as fair as jade with hazel eyes, unlike her usual sea blue eyes.

Her long black hair reached till her waist in that white scrubs.

Her lips looked somewhat pale because of the weakness.

Elena raised her right hand to her cheek, her fingers shivered, she wondered if it was cold or shock. She kept stroking as the skin felt drier than her usual one.

She knew it. This was not her then why…

Her thoughts were interrupted when a splitting headache started everything started to blur

"Miss Xin are you okay?"

"She just woke up, she needs rest"

Elena could hear those voices, but she barely had strength as she held onto her head.

"Miss Xin.."

The voices slowly started to shut them down in the background.

She fell into deep slumber before they could understand what's happening to her.

Sunlight peeked through the window into the hospital room, the sunlight seemed to be stroking the girl sleeping on the bed as she squinted.

Her long eyelashes fluttered open as she covered her eyes trying to adjust to the glaring brightness of the surroundings.

Suddenly reminded by everything she opened her eyes again, glancing at the same white hospital room.

"So, it was not a dream after all" Elena, now Xin Xiulin said softly as she tried to get up but only to fall back because of the weakness.

Yet she got up again as she dragged herself out of bed. Her step staggered due to weakness, but she persisted as she held onto the bedside table before picking up the glass of water and gulped it down. Her parched throat seemed to relieve again.

She took the mirror to the table again, only to call out the name again." Xin Xiulin.." this was her name now.

Compared to yesterday when she snapped out at the doctor for calling her Miss Xin, she seemed to have regained her composure.

Xin Xiulin was from a very happy family of three. Her parents raised her with a lot of love, giving in for her everything but everything started to change when she was 1o. Her Colonel father hadn't returned to her house when he was supposed to leaving the mother and child all alone.

Madam Yang, a very old friend of Li Huan Xiulin's mother kept helping them by giving Li Huan a job and even taking good care of Xiulin no less than her own sons whom Xiulin wasn't much close to.

But one day while they both were coming back home from a trip they got into an accident killing Li Huan even though she was protecting her daughter in her arms while dying until the very last minute.

The last words of Li Huan kept ringing in her head, "He is waiting for you. Search for him!" she first thought she was talking about her father but that doesn't seem to be the thing here because he was dead she even saw a body not that she saw the face but still it doesn't change the fact.

It's funny how she was an orphan in both of her lives. She really looked up to Xiulin's mother who kept fighting till her last breath for her daughter. And this was no normal accident. It was a planned murder. A person did get down from the truck to come and check them. And who were the people who tried to kill her in Russia?

She and her brother thought that her parents died because of the government, but no this is definitely a personal agenda. These people had something against them. She just hoped that her brother is safe. She has to find a way to contact him and inform him it's the same people.

She sighed softly as she kept staring at a wall in a daze."Xiulin you are awake."Xiulin turned to look at a lady who looked like was in her early forties. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice her presence.

"Aunt Yang" she called out hesitantly, looking at the lady. Yang Shi came in quickly, enveloping her in a hug. She hugged her back slowly with complicated thoughts running in her head.

"I'm so sorry about your mom. You do know that she wants you to be happy and healthy right" Yang Shi said, looking at the young girl in her arms she couldn't help but pity this child who lost everyone.

She missed her best friend." I..I want you to come live with me. I know that your uncle was your temporary guardian, but he is in the camp now and I already had a word with him he is ok with it.."

She said looking at her face, searching for something. Xiulin slowly smiled" I'm okay with that aunt. Thank you``.

Yang Shi smiled wide waving her hand off "There are no thanks between us Xiu'er. Go on, let's get you ready so that we can discharge you soon."

She smiled softly and nodded, heading into the washroom. She went and looked in the mirror again. "Transmigration or reincarnation, what the heck is this!?"Even though she was good at Chinese it wasn't exactly her language she was more used to Russian than this.

She has to be very careful living with the Juns. She knows that the Juns are the big shot in China. She slowly took out her scrubs to see the girl's body which was covered in small scratches but no major injuries. Even the doctors couldn't understand why the girl with so few injuries was in a coma.

But she knew why it was because Xin Xiulin didn't want to see the world without her only known family. Elena understood how she has felt. She sighed and wondered how her brother was doing. If she is here it means she is dead there.
