Chapter 32

I look at myself in the vanity mirror as I brush my fingers through my brown hair. The day’s events run through my mind and I can’t help but to thank the Goddess for the fact that my heart has yet to stop beating.

I feel a pair of hands on my shoulders, and I lean into the touch of my husband whom I haven’t seen in a month.

“The Duchess’ mind is full of thoughts if she hadn’t noticed her husband’s entry.” he teases me gently, and I smile.

Had I’ve been younger I might have smacked him for it, but we’re both at that age where we can smile off each other’s words.

“A copper for your thoughts?”

I breathe a sigh as I count what wrinkles my husband has, finding joy in the thought that with each wrinkle; I’m reminded that we’ve been together long enough for me to spot new ones.

“I’m still in awe of what I saw this afternoon.” I finally admit.
