Chapter 87 - Blood Shadows

Miles walked Deana to her office after they finished their coffee, and he bared his soul, finally. She sat there, listening to everything he said without judging him. She didn’t need to; he judged himself hard enough as it was. Still, it felt good to open up about his past, to unburden himself of the mayhem he left in his wake, the terrible decisions he made, the pain he caused, as well as the lives he ruined. With each word he spoke, he could feel the weight slip from his shoulders, allowing him to sit up straighter. By the time he walked out of Hell’s Brew, he stood taller than he ever had, no longer fearing the past but ready to embrace the future. There were still things to do, people to face, but Miles knew he could do it all with a clear focus of mind now.
