Chapter 46: Geh
Years passed like the changing of seasons... Now, Mother is now 63, nearing the end of a human's lifespan.... Father had stopped coming by to see her ever since 5 years ago, so now every now and then I come to accompany her alone.
"Your dad.... I miss him now and then..." mother said in a sad tone as she sat on her chair next to the one dad always sits on.
"You have me, why would you need him?" WIth slight anger in my voice, I spoke as I was washing the vegetables outside the porch.
Mother had a sad look into the distance and softly spoke.
"He couldn't bear to see me leave him..., its anytime now, I can feel it."
"No you don't, you can't say that when you just hunted a troll the 'Challenging way' just because you happen to come by one."
After we finished washing it, we prepared for dinner.
"Come to think of it, when are you planning on getting married?"
I stopped my hands for a moment and let out a sigh" I hate to make myself sound like father but it's...complicated..."
Mother took a bite at the carrot we're preparing and shove the rest of it into my mouth
"And i was hoping to see my grandkids in this life" mother teased me
"I can't help it okay, besides those boys don't seem that attractive."
"You elves have long lives, maybe they'll grow on you as time goes." Mother smirked
I placed the ladle on the table ,"It's... not that simple i think..."
"What do you mean by that?" Mother's gaze shifted towards me.
"Because...I think I might be gay...."

Both of us sat on the table for dinner in gay silence. After coming out of the closet I felt even more nervous on how mother would think. For years she had hoped I would get married but now that she's at this age, I couldn't bear to lie in her face anymore. I hope she would accept me the way I am.
During the whole meal there was only silence in the room even when I washed the dishes. She then sat in her chair while I sat across from her.
Out of the blue she muttered, "Why are you gay?"
I spat my drink out from the curveball she threw as always.
*Cough**Cough*" Ahem, It's not by choice, I just erm don't feel attracted to boys."
"So by method of elimination you think you like girls?" Mother had a face with genuine concern.
"It's not just that I think, It's that I know that I like girls for a fact."
The room returned to the usual silence, she rubbed her chin while looking at me intensely
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely sure of it."
She laid back and laughed deliriously
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
"Why are you laughing? What's so funny about it?"
"Haih,.. all these years, and i thought victory is mine..."
"What victory?"
She took out a blue overcoat and passed it to me
"Give this coat back to your dad when you return tomorrow, he'll understand"
"What's that supposed to do with my situation? Besides, we aren't really on talking terms..."
"I promise you, when he sees it, he'll come back the next time along with you"
I was stunned by that statement, dad is known for his hard headedness, there's nothing that can force him to do something unless he wills to. But if mother says so, this is a chance to patch things together as a family.
"Ok, leave this to me!"

I reached outside father's study room and knocked on it with the blue overcoat in my hand
*Knock Knock*
"Come in"
I pushed open the heavy door and in there Father is sitting on his desk looking at the documents but he stopped his hands when he his eyes drifted to the coat in my arms.
"Mother asked me to hand this to you"
He picked up the coat excitedly and examined it
"I see, thanks for returning it."
"If there's nothing else, I'll get going then." I took a bow and turn my back against him
"Wait.."Father held me in place with his words
"Maybe... if you don't mind, I can join you to see mum next month?" father
I closed my fist and made a small fist pump. Regaining my composure, i replied him confidently
"Sure."
Then I walked out of the room at a quicken pace to hold in my joy.

The King looked at the overcoat on his desk, he walked to get a drink as he looked out of the window and into the distance.
Alone he muttered, "I told ya she's gay."
