(Ch.1)

Chin got hit a piece of chalk, she looks at the teacher as her teacher shouted "Chin pay attention to the lesson," in a furious voice.

She answered "I am paying attention," in a calm tone.

"If you were then come solve this equation," in a disbelief voice as Chin walks toward the board. After she solves the problem, her teacher said "You got it right, now sit down and pay attention," in a quiet tone as she sat back down.

When she got home, one of her friends texted "Chin, can you hang out with Mei Zhen, Da-Chung, and me, we're just going to at the park for an hour."

Chin replies "I'll ask my mom." She texted her mom "Mom, can I go out with my friends?"

"Do you need money and where are you guys going?" her mom answered.

Chin replied, "I don't think so plus I still have a little money, we're just going on a walk at the park."

"Ok, just be careful and come home before sunset." Her mom texted. She got ready, she wore something kinda thick since it was beginning to get cold. As she walked, she was reading one of her favorites authors, Wan Yu, Chin wish she could meet her but she knows that it's never going to happen. As she was walking, she bumps into someone, she looks at him, said "I'm sorry," and walked away, she thought she has seen him from somewhere.

When Chin got to the park, she saw her friends at the entrance so she quickly ran to them as she says "Hello, you guys, did you guys wait long," in a cheerful voice.

"Oh hi, no we just got here," one of her friends answered in a calm tone.

Another one said "Enough talking, let's go in," as she leads while the other follows. While they were walking, one of Chin's friends, Da-Chung, bumped into a guy, she looks at him and continues to walk. The guy asked "Aren't you going to apologize," in a calm tone as they look at each other, his friends look at Chin's friends while her friends look back at them.

Da-Chung rolls her eyes and said "Sorry," in an annoyed voice, then she turns around and walks off as Chin and her other friends followed.

He slightly shouted "Is that all you're going to say to me," in a calm tone as he crosses his arms.

She went in front of him as she answered "Oh sorry, let me say it again. I'm so sorry for bumping into you, Mr. Good looking boy," in a sarcastic voice with a fake apologetic face. She asks "There, now leave alone or I will kick you," in an annoyed tone, rolling her eyes.

One of his friends said "She's a feisty one," in a teasing tone with a smirk as the other guys just chuckled.

Another guy commented "I wonder if she knows who you are," in a curious tone.

Da-Chang interrupted "I don't who this little boy is but I don't care who he is. All I know is, he's a waste of my time," in an annoyed voice then she went back to Chin. She said "You guys, let's go before they ruin my mood," in a calm tone as she walks off.

"Why were you so mean that guy," Jia Li asks in a confused tone as Chin and Mei Zhen agreed.

Da-Chung looks at them and answered "With one look I could tell that he's a playboy so I didn't want to be nice to him," in a calm tone.

"Really," Mei Zhen said in shock, she nodded. Mei Zhen asked "So is all of the guys in that group playboys," in a curious tone.

Da-Chung shook her head, "By the looks of them, a few of them aren't players," in a calm tone.

Jia Li commented "You guys know what, they all look rich, especially that guy Da-Chung bumped into," in a quiet voice.

Chin added "Yeah, I feel like I have seen a few of them somewhere," in a calm tone.

Da-Chung noted "You guys, stop talking about those guys, I have something to tell you guys," in a calm tone as they all look at her. She continues "I'm moving," in a down tone.

Chin asked "Where? Is it going to be far? Will we see you again," in a worried tone as the other two nodded.

She answered "Don't worry, it's going to be one or two hours from here," in a cheerful tone but her face turns sad as she added "But I'll have to go to a different school," in a soft voice.

Mei Zhen commented "It's okay, we can always see each other when it's summer," in an assured tone as she pats Da-Chung's shoulder, they hummed.

Jia Li asked "When are you moving," in a curious tone.

She answered "Next week, we already have everything ready. This is probably the last time I will see you guys before I leave," in a calm tone.

Mei Zhen said "If that's the case, let's try to have as much as we can while we can," in an excited tone, they nodded. They went to play on the playground, went to buy drinks, and looked around stores, 2 hours have passed, they were at the entrance, Da-Chung marked "Looks like it's time for us to separate," in a calm tone.

Chin suggests "Let's hug for the last time, who knows when the next time we'll see each other," in a benevolent tone as they spread their arms and hugged each other. When she got home, she got a call from her mom, "Hello, mom," in a confused tone.

Someone answered "This is your mom's colleague, your mom is in going to the hospital," in a nervous tone.

She asked "Which hospital," in a panicked tone.

"It's called Healing Hospital," the person answered in a nervous tone.

"I'll be there," in a worried tone, then she hung up. She puts her shoes on as she calls her brothers, "Hello?" they both answer.

"Lai and Jinyu, you guys need to go to the healing hospital, mom is going there," in a panicked voice.

Lai asked "What?! Why," in a concerned tone.

Chin answers "I don't know, her colleague just called me that she's going to the hospital," in a nervous tone as she begins to walk to the hospital. After she walked for 20 minutes, she went inside, she saw her second brother, she quickly ran to him and asked "How is mom," in a nervous tone.

He answered "The doctor said that he needs to do more tests on her so right now she's still testing," in a calm tone as they both sat in the waiting room. After 50 minutes, Lai got there as he asked "How is mom? Where is she? Is she okay," in a worried tone.

Jinyu stood up and said "Lai, calm down. She's still doing tests, we don't know what happened to her," in a calm tone. Just then they saw their mom, being wheeled out of the testing room, they went to her, Lai asked "Mom, are you okay? Is there anything wrong with you," in a worried tone.

Their mom shook her head and answered "No, I'm fine. The doctor just told me that I haven't been eating enough," in a reassuring tone, she smiles as she held his hand.

The nurse said "We would like to have Ms. Chang stay in the hospital overnight to keep an eye on her, is that all right," in a calm tone as Lai nodded. The nurse added "Right this way," as they went to a room. While their mom was laying in bed, she said "You guys should be home now, you guys have school and work tomorrow," in a cheerful tone.

"No mom, I can just skip my classes," Jinyu answered in a calm tone.

Their mom shook her head, "No, you shouldn't do that, you'll get a bad grade," in a concerned voice.

He held her hand and assured her "I won't, I can just ask my friend for notes."

Their mom nodded as she added "But Lai and Chin, you guys need to go home, I'm not letting you guys skip school or work," in a serious tone.

Lai noted "You two should go home," in a soft voice.

Jinyu nodded and commented "Ok, we'll go home. We're leaving now, take care mom," in a sweet tone as he drags Chin out. As they were walking out, they heard someone say "Isn't that one of the girls we met earlier," in a confused tone.

"Yeah, I wonder why she's here," another one said in a curious tone.

One added "I think she's kinda cute, I might hit on her," in a teasing tone. Jinyu was going to confront them but Chin stopped him as she was shaking her head, he sighs, and then they both left. When they got home, Jinyu asked "Why did you stop me? They were talking about you," in an upset voice.

She answers "It's fine, what they were saying wasn't bad, just let it go," in a calm tone as she went to her room.

Later, Jinyu knocks on Chin's door and said "Dinner is ready," then he left. As they were eating, he asked "Did you study yet," in a calm tone.

Chin nodded as she answered "Yeah, I've been studying since we got home, are you going to go back to college tomorrow?" in a curious tone, he nodded. After Chin helps her brother clean up in the kitchen, she went back to her room to study, around 10 pm, she called it a day and put the stuff she'll need from school in her backpack and went to ready for bed.

After a few months, Chin notices her mom is different, she got more tired easily, doesn't eat much, and has been nauseous a lot lately. When she got home, she heard her mom throwing up so she quickly ran towards her mom, her mom was in the bathroom, throwing up. Chin got shocked causing her to hit the door, she stuttered "Mom, there's blood, why are you puking blood? Are you okay," in a frightened tone.

Her mom answered "It's nothing, I just had a few red popsicles and I'm not feeling good today," in a calm tone as she stood up.

"Mom, you never really like red popsicles, why would you eat a few of them? Plus I'm sure you know you're not supposed to eat those things when you're sick," in a reminding voice as her mom flushes the toilet and freshen up.

"Well I just to eat them since it has been a while and yes, I do but I just wanted to see what would happen if I did it," her mom marked.

Chin looks at her mom with a serious face as she said "Mom, don't lie to me, are you really okay," in a serious tone as she follows her mom to her room.

"Chin, I told you I'm just kinda sick right now, I'll be better in no time. Now I'm going to take a nap, I'll make you dinner later," in an assured tome as she got into her bed. Chin nodded as she made a soft look then she left her mom's room to her room.

She calls her oldest brother, "What's up?" he answers.

Chin asks "Brother, what is actually wrong with mom when she was at the hospital," in a curious tone.

He was quiet for a second and replies "The doctors said that mom just needs to eat and rest more. Why," in a calm tone.

"Well when I came home, I saw mom puke red so I asked her about it but she said that it's just red popsicles, which we know mom doesn't like red popsicles so why. She said that she just want to try it since it has been a while plus mom said that she doesn't feel good today," in a confused tone.

Lai sighed and marked "Maybe it's like she said but whatever," in a calm tone.

"But mom knows that you shouldn't have those things when you're not feeling well," in a calm voice.

"Chin, just let mom be, is that why you called me," he noted in a serene tone.

Chin said "Brother, are you hiding something from me, you know you can tell me anything no matter what it is," in a reassuring voice.

He answered "Stop asking me so many questions, I'll tell you when it's the right time," in an assured tone, she just sighs and hummed. He added "Anyways I have to go back to work now, I'll come to visit you guys in a few days," in a peaceful voice.

"Ok, brother, bye-bye," she commented in a quiet tone.

He marks "Bye, study hard," in a cheerful tone, then he hung up, Chin sighs as she took out her homework and begins to study. Around 8 pm, "Chin, dinner is already," her mom said as she came into her.

Chin noted "I'll be there," in a calm tone as she stopped studying and followed her mom to the dining table. When Chin ate a spoonful of what her mom cooked, she made a slight face, then her mom asked "Chin are you okay? Is my cooking bad, if it is, we'll just order something," in an anxious tone.

Chin answered "I'm fine, I kinda bit my tongue and your food is great like normal, why," in an assured tone as took another spoon of food.

Her mom shook her head as she said "Oh nothing, just keep eating," in a cheerful tone, then she happily continues to eat.

As Chin slowly eats, she looks at her mom, it seems like her mom doesn't realize how salty the food she cooked is, she asks "Mom, did you try something new," in a curious tone.

Her mom answered "No, it's my usual cooking. I think it tastes the same, does it taste different to you," in a confused voice.

She shook her head as she said "No, I was just curious, let's just continue to eat," in a reassuring tone, then she quickly went back to eating, her mom still gave her a confused look. After they ate, her mom asked Chin to wash the dishes since she is really exhausted, Chin nodded.
