In the endless expanse of space, an asteroid can be seen traveling at high speeds. If one were to inspect the space rock closer, they would see that there is a huge mansion built into the asteroid itself. The mansion has enough rooms for hundreds of people to live in, each with separate living space and still not feel like the building is cramped.
The outside of the mansion is as one would expect, all grey walls that seemed to blend in with the asteroids surface. You would expect that the inside would be creepy, dark and damp right? well that couldn't be farther from the truth. The inside was lavishly decorated with pillars of gold, red carpets going through the endless halls leading to each room in the mansion. You could see a floating chandelier in the main hall at the entrance. However, there were no candles or lightbulbs. Small balls of light were constantly moving around in an invisible barrier making the glass hanging on the chandelier sparkle. There are many other glass decoration hanging from the dark black ceiling that make it seem as if you are gazing at a nights sky full of stars.
In the center of the mansion, there is a large dome shaped room. The room is so big that it couldn't possibly fit into the mansion. Its as if someone has compressed space itself to make the room bigger than physically possible. In the middle of the room, there is a gigantic tree that seemed to reach the highest point of the heavens and gives the impression that its roots dive to the deepest points of hell. A World Tree. An ancient species of tree that was thought to have long ago gone extinct due to the False Immortals.
At the bottom of the tree, a young man can be seen sleeping the shade caused by the artificial sun present in the room. If he were standing, one could see that he was 6 feet tall with a face that can make even the gods jealous. Unfortunately, no one can fully see his face due to a black blindfold covering his eyes. However, the bottom half of his face is enough to entice even the most cold beauties. His hair was long enough the reach his waist, but it wouldn't make him look feminine, instead it would give him a sort of refined handsomeness. Snow white strands were spread out on the grass around his sleeping body. He was wearing a black robe decorated with white dragons that wrapped around his body loosely, with a cloth wrapping it together at the waist. the long sleeves would reached a bit above the floor if he was standing up. If he were to point at something, the sleeve would shift up his arm, showing only his hand as the rest would be hanging from his arm.
Suddenly, a finger twitched. Then another until the whole body suddenly sat straight.
"Aaaaaahhh…" The man yawned.
He flicked his hand and suddenly, thousands of runes shown in the dome like room. The previous artificial sky with the fake sun was suddenly replaced by the darkness of space. The dome seemed to shift as it zoomed thousands of kilometers and focused onto a blue planet in orbit around the yellow sun.
Although the man was wearing a blindfold, he moved as if he could see everything just fine. His head tilted slightly upwards to inspect the planet until he suddenly smiled.
"A planet ruled by gods born through faith huh… and it seems as if magic itself has been forgotten by the mortals inhabiting it. Interesting. Mortals that can never break the shackles of time gave birth to immortals, although weak, through faith." The man mused to himself.
In a single moment, the man's examined the entire planet thoroughly enough to understand the strongest beings of the blue planet that was thousands of kilometers away.
"Should I give them the pleasure of meeting an Immortal of magic, I wonder?" He said with a small smile.
Immediately after, he floating to his feet and began walking towards the exit of the domed room, also called the Observatory. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small rectangular box. He opened the top and pulled out a cigarette. He placed it in his mouth and put his finger under the other end. A small green flame suddenly lit on the tip of his finger and lit the cigarette. He took a deep breath and breathed out greenish smoke, but it wasn't a sickly green, it was more like the healthy vibrant green of a forest. As the smoke, dispersed, the grass seemed to be actively trying to absorb as much of the smoke as the could.
The man exited the Observatory and walked down the hallway to the left of the exit. He kept walking in a straight line, passing many intersections, for a full 15 minutes before reaching a pair of beautifully decorated black doors. Without breaking stride, he opened the doors and walked through to see a huge library. Like the Observatory, it was impossibly huge and it certainly shouldn't fit in the asteroid, yet here it was.
He walked to a certain bookcase that reached up to 5 meters in height, containing 12 shelves filled with around 15 books each, which added up to 180 books in total. What were these books that belonged to an Immortal mage? Were they books that explained complicated rune formation? Or maybe they were grimoires containing powerful space-time spells? He certainly had those somewhere in the library, but this particular bookshelf contained something he treasured more than any of those magic theory books or sacred grimoires. These were...
"My novels!" He exclaimed before puffing out his chest in pride. That's right,, his novels. A few thousand years ago, he met another Immortal that had a great interest in novels. After spending a few years with him, he also fell in love with them and began writing. There is more, but that's a story for another time.
He pointed at the bookshelf and immediately under it, a swirling portal of white and purple opened up and the bookshelf fell into his personnel subspace. He quickly walked back out of the library and walked through several hallways, taking multiple turns until he reached the main hall an hour later.
You would wonder why he built this mansion in such a way that it would take a few hours to go from one place to another, right? Well, an Immortal, what do a few hours matter?
After reaching the main hall, he raised his hand and pointed with his finger at the air. For a moment, nothing happened before his finger started lighting up a dark blue at the tip. He swiftly moved his finger, drawing line after line of dark blue runes that glowed a purplish hue. If any runemaster were to see how easily he was drawing runes without a medium, they would surely choke on their own jealousy.
After drawing over a hundred runes in under a minute, he dropped his hand to his side with a satisfied smile. The runes shot towards the main door of the mansion. As they fused to it, the door blurred slightly as a whirlpool of purple energy formed and expanded from the center until it replaced the whole door.
"Haha! Lets see what this world has to offer!" The Immortal mage exclaimed excitedly before rushing through the portal.
