Damn it's been a year since I've posted. F*ck real life shit amiright? This is the longest chapter I have ever written ever and its 4 am so there might be some typos.
And kudos to CountWatermelonTM cause he/she is the only reason I introduced and started this chapter/arc.
CHEERS!

Alex appeared an a road a few kilometers away from the city and immediately started walking forward. Since he took his time enjoying the forests around, it took him quite some time to reach the first building… or so it should've been. Apparently, he had quite some luck since people kept offering him rides.
*VROOOoom
A car conveniently pulled up next to him. If he didn't know any better, Alex would have thought he was some protagonist in some dude's novel…
'Haha, I need to stop reading so many novels.'
" You alright sir? Need a lift?" A young, stoic woman asked as she pulled down her window.
She looked to be in her mid twenties with blond straight hair and piercing blue eyes as if she wanted to know everything about anyone who crosses her path.
"Sure, if you wouldn't mind." He replied. It's always better to travel with someone else.
Especially when the other party is a young and beautiful woman.
He went around to the right side of the car and hopped in.
" How can you see with that blind fold?" She sounded surprised, even though her face didn't change much. Although, if it were anyone else, they would have felt like she was interrogating them, as her tone suggested. She is quite skilled in hiding her emotions…but who is Alex?
" I wonder…my name's Alexander by the way."
'He dodged the question' She narrowed her eyes slightly, but didn't point it out.
"My name is Evangeline. What are you doing out here in that robe? It's not exactly common to wear those around here." She intero- 'asked' as she pulled out to continue on her way. Alex just raised an eyebrow.
"Aren't you a curious one. Did you fall for my handsome face?" He said lightly with a chuckle.
Though that didn't stop the car from swerving slightly due to Eva's surprise.
(I'm not sure if I said this but I'm gonna refer to Alexander as Alex from now on. And Eva for Evangeline.)
"Cough… sorry, bad habit from my job. I work as an detective in the NYPD." She said as the slight blush that appeared on her usually store face disappeared. She was just caught by surprise, she didn't fall for him.
"Oh, that makes sense."
They continued an towards the city as Eva kept asking question and Alex answered … most of them. He also asked his fair share of questions as Chiron didn't have time to explain every little thing about this world. By the time they arrived at the city, Eva has warmed up to him enough to give a smile now and then.
" You going anywhere specific?" She asked as she drove into the city.
"Not really, just sight-seeing. I'm probably going to walk around and have some fun for a while. Care to join me?"
"Sorry, its been a long drive. I'm going straight home after I drop you off… somewhere." She rejected the offer as she was coming to slowing down at a red light. As the car came to a stop, she looked over to see Alex staring at the people passing by when a ridiculous thought appeared in her head.
"You have a place in the city to stay right?" She asked unsurely.
"No." He replied with a smile.
"How about money?"
"No."
"Someone you're planning to contact?"
"Nope."
Eva frowned as she felt a mild headache beginning to form as she watched the still smiling Alex. The 18-year-old is talking about not having any money, a place to sleep and no one in this whole city he could contact for any of those.
"So you are telling me, you have no money, no place to stay and no one to contact and all you have is the cosplay you have on??" She asked, bewildered.
"That's exactly what I am saying, but I'll make do so dont worry." He said with the same small smile on his face.
"Ugh." Eva groaned as she placed a hand on her face. "'Making do' isn't going to cut it. How about you stay with me for a bit until you get on your feet." She offered (read 'stated') as she drove home after the light turned green.
Alex tried explaining that he'll be fine, but she wouldn't have it. This personality of hers is what makes her a good police officer as well as a good person. She'll put her nose where it doesn't belong a thousand times over if its to protect others, which frustrates her boss to no end.
Of course, that last bit doesn't bother her much.
Anyhow, after trying and failing miserably multiple times, he gave in as he recalled the words a certain someone told him a long time ago that kept getting proved time and time again during his long life.
'No man can refuse a determined woman…or at least, no DECENT man would.'
A flash of silver hair made his way into his thoughts as a fond yet slightly sad smile made its way onto his face.
Eva seemed to feel a slight shift in his mood as she drove in silence. Given his long long long...long life, its reasonable to assume he'd long since mastered his body so as to no unnecessary movements took place that gave away his action/mood. It's just there is no need for him to use those skills at the moment. He is a tourist, not a fighter at the moment.
Its been 30 minutes since they have entered the city and they have arrived at a small house in what looked to be a quiet neighborhood as green lawns and a couple trees could be seen on nearby properties.
Eva parked in the driveway and shut off the ignition. She let off a small sigh as she leaned back slightly exhausted and closed her eyes for a bit before opening them again.
"Alright, we're here. Do you mind helping me with the bag-" Eva started as she turned to her left before abruptly stopping what she was about to say.
No one was there. She briefly wondered if she was hallucinating the whole encounter when she heard her trunk open up as the sounds of baggage could be heard being taken out.
She quickly reached for the keys but found that they weren't in the ignition. She got out in shock as she saw a man wearing a dragon covered robe holding two huge bags that weighed more than she cared to admit in each hand with the key still in the lock of her trunk.
"How'd you get my keys, open the door and close it in the 3 second it took me to slightly relax without me noticing any of it?!" Eva exclaimed in a shocked tone.
She's a police officer goddammit. She'd trained in some hand-to-hand combat in spars as well as a few difficult arrests under her belt.
In other words, it like closing your eyes for a second and then opening them to find the person in front of you is suddenly holding your clothes and area where the breeze shouldn't reach are getting cold all of a sudden as one passed them. It was too fast and silent! IT MADE NO SENSE!!
Those kinds of thoughts went through her head as Alex put on of the bags on the floor to close the trunk. He hooked the keychain on his pinky and he lifted the bag again and looked at the still shocked Eva.
"It's easy when you know how and the other person is exhausted." Alex replied in an amused tone.
"So, where do you want these to go?"
"Ah, uh just follow me?" Eva sputtered out as she walked to her front door, still not understanding what just happened. Was she really that tired? She shook her head as she found that the only possible explanation, unless Alex could teleport himself and objects
"Ha!" Eva suddenly laughed out at that ridiculous thought. She really need to stop reading too many novels.
"What's funny?" Alex asked curiously as he followed her up the stairs to what appeared to be her bedroom.
"Nothing you'd probably understand unless you read a disgusting amount of fantasy stuff." She waved her hand dismissingly, as if this is something she went through a lot.
"OOH YOU READ TOO MUCH FOR YOUR OWN GOOD TOO?!" Alex exclaimed excitedly as he practically through the bags in the room and rushed at Eva with stars shining in his eyes.
Eva flinched at the over exciting look on his face as he moved so close before she could answer.
'How is he so fast?!' she thought in surprise.
"Tell me, what plots do you like the most? What type of main character personality do you love? How many books have you read? What magic system do you like? Personally, I'm finding the Rune system interesting because…." Alex spoke so fast that Eva couldn't even process what he was saying before he moved on to other things.
"Woah there, how about you speak a little slower, okay?" She raised her voice a bit as she gestured for him to drop it down a notch or two...or three. Maybe four?
"Oh right, sorry. It's been ages since I've had someone to talk to about this haha." He said as he rubbed the back of his head, slightly embarrassed.
"I'll let you change and unwind since you seem so tired. Can you just point me towards where I'm staying?" Alex has long since given up on leaving. Why refuse to bite something forced in your mouth? He'll take it a step further and enjoy it like someone eating a pizza with a fork and knife.
"Alright, the guest room is down the hall, right across the bathroom. There should be some blankets ad a pillow in the closet, so use those to set up the bed. Feel free to be at home." She said as she walked in and closed the door as a lock could be heard click.
She is kind and confident in protecting herself, but she wasn't stupid enough to leave her room unlocked while changing when there is someone else in the house. Especially a man she literally picked up on the street an hour or so ago.
He didn't give off any weird vibes, otherwise she would have taken him to a shelter or found a motel for him to stay.
Kind, not naïve. That's her philosophy.
Even if she had a good impression of him that happened to be true, what if he actually accidently entered her room whilst changing? She has read way too much to fall into such a trap.
Anyhow, Alex decided to leave and headed for the kitchen. She said to make himself at home, so he is going to do just that. He found the kitchen after going through the cozy living room and the nice relaxing dining room. This house was decent, but way too big for a single person.
He should know. He has a whole ass palace and a huge space rock. He knows what 'too much' space means and even went as far to challenge that concept! Why?! Because...WHY NOT!
....you'd get bored too after living for so long.
Anyhow, once he found the kitchen, he found a couple of pots. But when he opened the fridge, it was empty causing him to momentarily frown before he shrugged. There was enough food in his personal storage to feed a continent's worth of people, so its not like he has no options.
He found a rectangular metal tray, and took out a huge piece of meat. In fact, it seems he miscalculated cause it covered the whole kitchen table if he didn't catch it in time and made it float a bit. As it floated in the air, he looked at the kitchen knife in his hands and back to the meat. After seeing the size difference, he shrugged again and pushed mana into the tip of his finger and began writing runes leisurely on the flat side of the knife.
After he finished, the knife glowed a hue of blue that seemed to end in a very thin black before disappearing. He waved the knife around before nodding in satisfaction before slashing down at speeds no mortal could ever hope to see.
*SWISH SWISH SWISH*
As the sound of air being cut and the flashes of a blade ended, the floating mass of red meat suddenly separated into multiple decent sized slices, each one enough to make a grown man full. He put the rest away in a portal as only 4 floated down onto the tray.
Another portal opened in the air above his hands as 2 black wooden boxes fell into his hand. he opened them as he directed his mana in to scoop some of the powder substances inside and evenly coated all 4 steaks.
At this point, he doesn't even remember why he used a tray. he can use magic. He felt the urge to give forehead a high-five.
After feeling the amount of stupidity he has for the umpteenth time since his birth, he made the four steaks float again and wrote in the air a few runes that quickly turned into water and dashed to the tray, cleaning it before Alex waved his hand carelessly as the water disappeared and the tray flew to where he took it from.
Focusing back on the four floating soon-to-be delicacies, he began writing multiple runes that flew and floated around the steaks. After finishing, he looked at the lines of ancient writing orbiting around his future meal for the day before nodding slightly and activating them, causing the feeling of heat and the smell of something delicious to instantly fill the room.
This is probably the most inconceivable use of runes anyone will most likely never be able to witness.
Rune chef. A master in the arts of frying using the language used to rewrite reality.
"I really want to show this to the next rune master I see..." Alex muttered as he imagined their shock.
You might be wondering, why would someone so accomplished in rune magic be using it for something so mundane? The answer is...none of you damn business bitch!
SIKE!
In truth, it quite simple. When you make millions upon billions of dollars or whatever currency you use a day, does it matter if you hire maids to cook, clean and even dress you? Not really because you aren't losing anything right? The amount spent on them is something you make in a few minutes.
Alex is the same. His inconceivable mana pool, his immense knowledge and all the magic systems he has come across in his travels as well as all the personal research he's conducted on his own leaves this bit of mana expenditure to be insignificant, even though it took a couple times more mana to activate such a rune sequence without a medium.
"I really really want to show this to a tune master soon..." Alex muttered again as he finished his thought process.
He waved his fingers again as mana poured out and formed a new runic sequenced that flashed into a purple light and flew to certain cupboards in the kitchen, phasing through the would before phasing back out with plates and utensils.
A few moments later, the table is set, the food is read and preserved in an invisible barrier. He sat down, opened a portal that held a portion of his novel collection and picked one with a black and white cover.
As he read the story, he found himself halfway through the book as 20 minutes went by in a flash and a tired Eva made her way down the stairs in her pajamas and suddenly noticed a delectable smell permeating the house. She rushed to the kitchen and saw something that made no sense.
It's been less than and hour and apparently, the man she picked up found time to cook and clean the kitchen afterwards and is now reading a book, seemingly waiting for her. But that's not what she is shocked about.
'Where did the ingredients come from?!' She screamed in her head.
Before she went on her trip, she made sure to empty her fridge so nothing can spoil. She knows there is nothing yet perfectly looking steak is still on her kitchen table. Not to mention, she picked this young man as he was walking towards the city for who knows how long. For all intents and purposes, he should be more exhausted than her!
"Where'd you find anything to cook in this place?!" Her tone bewildered once she found her voice again.
Alex looked up and smiled as he set his book down next to his plate.
"Good, you're here. Come take a seat." He said as he got up and pulled the seat opposite to him and gesturing for her to sit with a smile.
'...What the hell is going on?' Eva thought as she walked over in a daze and Alex pushed her chair in slightly after she sat.
He walked over the other side and sat down as well before picking up his fork and knife and began enjoying the meal.
The sound of the knife on the plate seemingly broke Eva out of her daze as she frowned again as she noticed for the umpteenth time that Alex ignored her question.
"Has anyone ever told you that habit of yours is annoying?" She muttered below her breath, not really expecting him to hear or provide an answer as she picked up her own utensils.
Ain't no one saying no to a steak cooked to perfection by an Immortal. Even those without a sense of taste or smell could resist!
As she was about to take a bite, Alex answered her.
"More than I care to remember." He said as he swallowed, causing Eva to slightly flinch. What would you feel if someone from the next room over suddenly appeared and answered a question you asked yourself that no one normal could have possibly heard? Surprised, that what.
She ignored that as a slight red formed on her cheeks and she focused on the meal. As she took the first bite she felt an explosion of flavor which caused her to slightly moan happily.
This caused a smile to form on Alex's face as he recalled another piece of advise he heard from the silver headed person he spent the beginning of his life with.
'The only way capture the heart of someone completely is by going through their stomachs! Every one likes good food, so everyone likes good chefs!'
He chuckled slightly as he kept eating, causing the blush on Eva's face to deepen slightly.
"If you get any more red, steam will come out of your ears." He said with a smile still ever present on his face.
"If you keep that blindfold on any longer, you'd go blind!" She retorted back as a comfortable atmosphere surrounded them.
She looked over at the book on the table before furrowing her brows.
"What language is that? Is that one of your novels?" She asked while ignoring the question she has in her head that she knows won't be answered.
'Where did it even come from?' she asked herself. Alex has no luggage of any kind after all. Well, that she could see anyway.
"No language spoken here, haha. I'll see if I can get you a translated version. I wrote it myself after all, shouldn't be too hard." He half-answered one question before answering the other.
"You are a writer? That's so cool! I've never had the time to fully write something myself even though I have all these plots..."
Eva and Alex talked for a while, even after they finished eating. It's somewhat rare for people like them who are obsessed with the same hobby such as reading to meet up in real life and have a long conversation about said hobby with for more than a few sentences, so these two with an almost equal unhealthy obsession with fantasy novels are a match made in heaven (or hell to whomever can't follow the conversation).
Eventually though, Eva finally felt the fatigue of the trip hit her all at once as she excused herself to her room seeing as Alex seemed to have an abundance of stamina left.
He, now alone looked outside to find that the sun was go on to set in a few hours, so he decided to go on a walk.
He likes walking.
So, he left quietly and went wherever he felt like. He stayed out for a while eventually finding himself in a place with a lot of traffic as shops, restaurants and cafes were open. Teens walking around in their groups towards cafes, office workers going to their cars r waiting for public transit in a nearby station, friends out to have fun. A lively little street.
Unfortunately, something had to come and annoy him to ruin his good mood.
Near an alley, made even darker by the setting sun, a group of people walked in. 3 men and a woman. That wasn't what made him stop though. It was the child the woman was dragging into said alley with eyes basically screaming for help as terror clouded her face.
No one saw it in the crowded space, but who is Alex?
Certainly not 'no one'.
He followed them in and a few minutes later came out with the girl holding his hand.
"Are you hurt?" He asked. Most people would ask 'Are you alright?'. He too at one point.
It's quite the dumb question considering what this child went through. Checking for injuries is a better alternative as was proven by the small shake of her head.
Alex walked towards a small café as he lifted her off the floor and carried her in his arms. She was still around 5 or 6 years old, do it wouldn't be awkward with his strength.
"Eep!" She yelped in surprise.
"Do you want some ice cream?" He looked over and she gave a small nod as she looked over the options and meekly pointed at s'mores flavor ice cream.
"Ah, I see. You've got great taste!" He exclaimed still remembering the heavenly flavor of the s'mores.
"Hehe." The girl gave a small laugh as she blushed in embarrassment because of the unexpected compliment from the person who apparently saved her 10 minutes ago.
As they waited in line, the person in front of them finished the order before Alex walked over.
"Two s'mores flavored ice cream please." He said as his finger made a small, barely discernable movement as a flash of light so fast even the cameras didn't catch zipped through the air and entered the man's forehead. His eyes looked somewhat confused for a second before shaking his head slightly and giving Alex the receipt and told him to wait on the left as he took the order from the next customer.
The flash that entered the cashier's head zipped through the air again towards the employee in charge of preparing the order and entered their forehead.
The result of the seemingly useless light? Alex didn't pay with his none-existent money or time he didn't feel like spending as he quickly got the cones he ordered.
He carried the girl around on this walk before finding a park, their ice cream long gone.
"Do you wanna hear a story?" He asked gently, the smile he lost during the alley incident back again.
"MHM!" The girl, he now knew as Chloe, replied as excitement covered her face as she looked at the cool mister she met.
"Well, once upon a time, a star fell on a certain planet. It was a lot like Earth, but many MANY times bigger, you see. And, over there, people everywhere used magic to live an easier life. This star fell near the magical kingdom..." Alex started the story as they sat on a bench.
He waved his arms exaggeratingly as he told the story, catching the attention of nearby children walking over shyly as their parents came with them. Eventually, a small crowd could be seen forming around the robed man as he told story, his every gesture and voice change making it seem as if they were there themselves.
Even the parents and other passersby found themselves enchanted by the charisma of the white haired storyteller.
His story was about a man who fell from the stars, injured as he landed heavily in a forest, far from civilization. He couldn't move as he heard beasts approaching and he felt like this would be his end.
Thankfully, a beauty with a bow and arrow appeared, shooting at the magic beasts and eventually driving them off. She went into the crater to check on the man, finding him to be alive despite the hard impact. She took him to his home in the middle of the forest and decided to nurse him back to health.
The crowd around Alex grew as he stood on the bench, Chloe sitting next to him as kids sat on the grass, watching with happy smiles as the energetic mister described the scene in great detail.
The huntress that saved the man did not treat him well. She gave him food, a place to rest, medicine to help recuperate but nothing more. She entered his room and left just as quickly.
"As the month went by, the man finally cracked her shell as his attempts at conversation finally bore fruit. It amazed him because of that woman's stubbornness, but his ego gained a big boost from slipping under the cracks..."
Some people looked over at their wives and laughed slightly, the whole crowd having a smile as the story continued and finally came the plot twist.
The 'huntress' was actually the princess of a nearby nation who's father wanted to marry her off to a handsome prince. He wanted a suitable king to be on the throne after his death, but had no sons. The children gasped as Alex continued. The princess ran away!
After a long time, long before the man fell from the sky, the king's soldiers who have been tracking the princess finally found the her hiding place and captured her as the man still didn't have enough strength to stand and help her.
The princess, who warmed up to the man cried as the soldiers set fire to the house, to ensure no news of her living with a man made it to the ears of the prince or his family.
"Hey mister, why'd they try to hide the man?!" A kid around 10 years of age yelled as his parents looked over, apologetic.
"Well, young man, a man and woman can only live together under a few circumstances. They love each other, they are family are good and most likely examples. In this world, the people are told to only live with their spouses if they ever move out of their parents house. A princess that is supposed to marry a future king need to follow the rules much more strictly than other, so they wanted to lie to the prince's family to make sure he married the princess. Any other questions before I go one?" Alex asked as he answered a few questions the kids nearby had. before continuing.
The man in the burning house could only see the princess being dragged away by the soldiers as he cursed his own weakness. Then something magical happened. From the depth of his heart, he discovered that he may have fallen for the cold faced princess that saved him. That revelation moved the small amount of magic he had and dispersed it into the flames, causing them to burn more brightly.
Unfortunately, it was too late as the princess was already taken to the castle and the wedding date set in a few days. during these days, the flames burned just as brightly as the day they were lit.
When the wedding day finally arrived, the quiet princess walked down the isle, unwilling but forced to by her terrible father.
"That same instant, the flames of the house in the middle of the woods soared in the sky, casting it's red light all they way to the wedding venue as the music stopped and people stared at the pillar of flame that did something even more shocking!" Alex said with gusto as he placed his hand in his long sleeve, seemingly to pull out something.
"The flame pillar turned into a blazing PHOENIX!!" He yelled as he pulled his hand out of his sleeve as a flaming bird jumped out of the palm of his hand and soared in the darkened sky giving a beautiful cry before dispersing into embers, the crowd, both parents and kids exclaimed in surprise and excitement!
"The majestic flaming bird flew across the sky, leaving a trail of fire behind as it reached the wedding venue and wrapped the princess in it's flames. The princess cried out in shock, before she realized the flames didn't hurt. They carried her to the head of the phoenix as flames wrapped around her and she found herself shooting across the sky as the phoenix left the world and went back into the sea of stars!" Alex said in a finishing tone as the kids yelled in happiness at the princess's escape as well as the fact the man turned into a cool fire bird.
The applause came in as Alex did a gentleman's bow before looking down at Chloe who seemed to have stars in her eyes as the events on the previous hour was all but forgotten.
All of this occurred as five people were knocked out with various wounds in an alley that was soon discovered as some taking out the trash yelled out in shock before going back to call the police, thinking they were dead.
Oh, how they wished they were dead.
