I was awestruck . I completely zoned out from Mr.Walsh's literature class and tried to get a better look at her . She didn't move an inch . Her hair continued to sway with the wind . The scene caused my heart to ache with long . A feeling I had never experienced properly . I wanted to jump from my classroom window and run to her in the school ground . A thought crossed my mind . What was she doing in the middle of the ground ? She didn't look like a student . Where did she...
"Rodent !" Mr.Walsh's bitter voice caused my eyes to snap at his direction .
"Pay attention to the class!" I nodded , my usual frown decorating my features . I tried to steal a glance at the girl's direction but couldn't find her again . I tried and tried but the trees seemed colourless as usual .
I returned home with a thousand questions in mind . I couldn't sleep that night . I was anxious . I wanted to see her . I wanted that fire in my eyes , that lurch in my chest , that pang of want back . I wanted to see the colour Green again .
I ended up paying attention to the ground all week but couldn't find anything . But for the first time in my life , I didn't want to give up . I wanted to try again . Wait another week . Spend a month searching . But I wanted to find her at all costs . As usual , life wasn't easy on me .
Three months passed without any progress . On the other hand , my grades faltered by a lot . Thus my parents' worst faces were revealed .
"We can't do this anymore !"
"Why Clay ? Why can't you just do anything right ?"
"We did so much for you and this is all we get ?"
"We should have just sent you off to your Grandma's house ."
"On top of that , you don't even respond . Are you even human ?"
I questioned that too . The way they were treating me was inhuman . They continued to degrade me and rant about how much they wish I wasn't their son . I didn't know what I was feeling . But suddenly , I saw a little fire . Burning right in front of me . The same shade as the girl's hair...
Some switch flipped in me and I stood up , screamed profanities at them and left the house . The fire following after me .
