Pistachio

Nausea filled my senses as soon as the first rays of sunlight landed upon my face. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes as I recalled exactly what I had gotten myself into. I quickly scanned the room for any traces of the heavenly girl I had spent the night with. Well not 'spent the night with' in any sort of 'those ways'. My cheeks heated up as I mentally scolded myself for thinking of such crude things.

"Viridian?" My voice echoed through the small space,no answer in return. I got up from my makeshift bed, panic taking over my usually calm nerves.

Oddly enough,I found her standing outside the door, lost in thought.

"Why aren't you answering me?"

"Because I'm petrified."

The shift in her voice was noticeable. It wasn't the usual confident, mocking one.

"Why would you be petrified? You're a powerful..."

"The rain has stopped."

I hadn't realised it until now. She had mentioned beforehand that her dungeon was a dark, gloomy space with rain, most of the time. And yet,the morning sun was warm on my face.

"Wait,what do you mean?"

"I think it's you." Her fists clenched at her sides, fiery eyes meeting mine for the first time since the night.

"You're causing all of this. This dungeon is cursed. It isn't supposed to rain until the day..."

"Until what?"

"Until the day I die."

My heart rate picked up the most it had in all of my years. I wondered why all of these unbelievable events were being thrown upon me one by one...

"Can you please explain?" I tried to keep my cool as much as possible.

She sighed,Green locks swaying in the gentle breeze. It was supposed to be Winter... Why did it feel like Spring?

"Sit down. This is gonna be complicated stuff."

I munched down on the colourful pieces of unfamiliar fruit with vigour. I don't recall the last time I had felt such hunger. Yet I could care less. The girl in front of me had all of my senses focused on her.

"I told you I was kicked out from the garden, remember?"

I nodded.

"Well,I was also cursed. I was cursed that I will be stuck in this dungeon for the rest of my life with eternal rain and gloom. Nothing can be changed till my death. Unless..."

A glint of uncertainty glossed over her doe eyes. I felt my throat drying.

"Unless the universe loses its balance and mayhem breaks out."

A deaf silence took over us.

"But it's stopped raining. And you're not um..." I carefully tiptoed away from the implied meaning.

"Which can only mean one thing."

Viridian gulped,a strong gush of wind suddenly making its presence known.

"Clay Rodent,I think there is much more to you than I ever thought possible."
