I bit down on my nails. My boring monotonous life had so suddenly turned upside down. But it wasn't just my own. I had somehow affected the whole system. I had broken a curse and stopped rain. All of that without lifting a finger. But worst of it all, I had made Viridian anxious. I cleared my throat.

"Can't someone help you?" She shook her head no. A thin line formed on her forehead from the constant thinking.

"Everyone I knew is already dead or angry with me."

"Perhaps you could contact a fellow Godly being?" I sounded like a complete mad person.

"They don't really want to get in touch with a cursed ex-descendant of Artemis." She looked sheepish, almost embarrassed of the fact.

"But you're not cursed anymore." The revelation made her eyes widen. She shifted in her seat.

"I guess I could try...But on one condition!" I gave her a go-ahead. "You can't let anyone find out that you're a human. If they do... ", she sucked in a breath, "you'll be dead. A dead Rodent." I rolled my eyes at the lame attempt of a pun.

"Then what will I say? They're Gods, no? They'll catch if I lie."

"I will block your scent. You can tell them you're a... a failed hybrid!" She beamed at the idea, silently praising herself. I was baffled.

"A what?"

"A hybrid. You don't know what they are?"

"No. I'm not even sure I want to know." She began to explain anyway.

"In heaven, we have many species. Hybrids are one of them. They're... a mixture of animals and faes or sometimes, animals and humans." I felt my heart drop to my stomach.

"And how are they made?" She seemed to flush at the question.

"B-By mating of course."

I felt like vomiting. My nerves shook in horror and disgust. Humans mated with animals?! How was that even possible? How could a man and a hamster.... I heard Viridian clear her throat.

"You were meant to be a Deer hybrid, which is why you're so docile and clueless. But your genes failed and you were born without antlers and a tail. They'll believe that. Since you're a failed hybrid, you have to be sad all the time. Which you already are."

I felt strangely offended. Viridian chuckled at my expression. I blushed a little.

"I'll take you to one of my old friends. She's a Fae. Her name is Lyla."
