Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Rob’s POV

It all started last year when I had to transfer schools since my mother had moved in with another man from another town for the second time. At first, I was quite dissatisfied with her actions, and I was constantly bullied as a result of her. They used to mock me about how she's a "fille de joie" and I'm just a son of a whore. For a young guy like me at the time, all I wanted to do was play and be loved.

I've always wanted to scream my fury, punch every kid who yells at me, and curses my mother's name, but I'm hesitant because they're telling the truth.

For a while, I just let things go and let myself become an outcast.

It wasn't easy; every morning, I wished I could skip school and just stay in my room all day, spending my time alone.

In the mornings, my mother worked at a department shop, and at night, she worked as a waitress in a nearby bistro bar. Even though many people continue to judge her and cast many hues on her, I still love her; she is my mother. She always provides what I need, and I am convinced that she loves me. Despite the fact that a lot of people criticize me, I did my hardest not to get into a fight.

I managed to get through elementary school, but the night before our graduation ceremony, I came home to discover my mother crying and bruised all over her body. I ran into her and, like a frail child, I burst out crying and hugged her tightly.

"What's wrong mommy?"

"he left me, he left us now Rob" she is crying so hard.

I can feel her pain from her shaky voice.

I am in pain because I do not want to see her like this.

Inside my thoughts, I'm relieved that he's already gone. He is a nasty guy who smokes and drinks every day, he always hurts us, and he only let my mother work so that he could have all of the money. I felt sorry for us; I couldn't understand why she had chosen to live with him for the past four years.

A few years later, we manage to live together alone until she meets a businessman from another town, he is Mr. Broons. The first time I met him, I was already in Junior high. He is rich and well known. most of our neighbors congratulate my mom for finding a better husband at last. Someone told me that Mr. Broons is my mom's old sweetheart when they were just teenagers but my mom's parents wanted my dad so their relationship ended before.

He's friendly, and we talk a lot when he comes to visit my mother. I can see that he is the better of the men with whom my mother has had relationships, but I am still hesitant to put my trust in him.

After a month of dating, they got married and that time, we moved once again, we moved to Mr. Broon's hometown. I transferred as a senior high in a private academy.

New place, new face.

I come from a poor family and am not used to such opulence, but I will do everything in my power to make things better for my mother. I can finally see her with Mr. Broons, content and joyful. I owe it to him to repay his kindness by working extremely hard in class.

My first week was not particularly pleasant; it was difficult to acclimate to this type of setting. I sat beneath the tree, my brow drooping on my bent knees.

Suddenly, a stack of books toppled from the top.

"Ops! Sorry" My attention was drawn to a girl sitting on a branch.

She made her way down.

"I'm really sorry, it got away from me," she continued.

I was so mesmerized by her that I stopped moving for a few seconds while she waved her hands in front of my eyes.

"I said I'm sorry," she added. "Are you okay?" she asked.

I said, "Oh yeah, I'm OK."

"So you're the new kid, by the way, my name is Glim," she said, shaking her hand.

I slowly handed her my hand, but I shivered at how tightly I gripped hers.

"Hey, that was an odd handshake," she added, chuckling.

"Please accept my apologies; I am quite nervous!" I was stuttering.

"I can see your hand is a little chilly, but don't worry! Everyone here is kind, so I'm sure you'll be able to make things a lot simpler."

"Thank you," I said quietly. She then waved farewell and walked away.

I readily made friends; she is correct; everyone here is friendly; there were a few privileged kids who were bullies, but the majority of them were extremely approachable and nice.

I always steal a glimpse at her, and I can tell I'm steadily falling for her from afar every time I see her.

I can't take this opportunity to tell her that I like her because she is in a relationship.

"Dude, that stare will melt her?" one of my new friends exclaimed.

"Who's staring at me?" I lied to you.

"Is she a beauty? Why not just tell her that you like her? Her boyfriend is also out of town "He went on.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not able to," I stated.

Mico said, "We'll help you," and he looked at Duncan as if he already had a plan.

"How?"

So they advised me to become friends with her, and I was overjoyed when she welcomed my company.

I can't help but fall harder for her because she is so sweet and nice.

His and my companies get along so well that we are able to spend a lot of time together on weekends going out.

One day, I heard that she and his boyfriend were regularly bickering and that Brick had warned me to keep away from her.

I felt a little guilty, but all I wanted was to be near to her without causing them to break up.

I'm pleased just seeing her and being with her; I have no malice toward her.

Because our graduation is approaching, my mother has decided to host a party and has asked me to invite all of my friends.

Duncan screamed, "This is your chance now, Rob!"

"What do you mean?"

"I heard Brick and Glim are in a bad predicament right now, so you should seize this opportunity," Mico said.

I said, "I like Glim, but I can't make her like me."

They both have dismayed expressions on their faces as they glance at me.

"Will Glim be at your graduation celebration?" Duncan was the one who inquired.

"She said yes," I murmured, and his eyes shone brightly.

The party began late, about 7 p.m. Mr. Broons' large hall is filled with a well-known DJ spinning energetic music, neon lights, and party balls.

Everyone greeted one another and expressed gratitude to our family for hosting the party.

Finally, I noticed the girl who had piqued my interest.

My heart is racing because she is so beautiful.

She's dressed in a green bodycon dress that nicely fits her.

It's fine if I adore her from afar; as long as I see her smile, I'm satisfied.

Duncan taps my back, "Drooling over the girl who is taken."

"Shut up, buddy,"

She walked slowly towards me and smiled so brightly that my heart couldn't handle it.

"Congratulations, Rob, and thank you for bringing us over; we will undoubtedly make this night epic," she expressed her gratitude.

We partied all night, with some crying over notes from classmates, others exchanging gifts and other mementos, and the night being full with both laughter and drama.

I never imagined that this night would once again impact my life. I never anticipated waking up fearful and despondent.

"Can you tell me what happened?" In front of some people, I woke up shirtless. Mr. Broons is hugging my distraught mother, and several of the students have presumably just woken up from a hangover from the night before.

"Can you tell me what happened?" I screamed.

After that, I noticed a blood stain on my blanket.

What the fuck.
