"What's..."
Mayin couldn't finish her words, she could only stare at her son, they both were confused and waited silently for Lanru to calm down. After a while Lanru let go of them and stepped back, whipping her tears.
"What's happening, Lanru? you're scaring me."
"Mom, I reported a dangerous criminal, and he knew who I am, he might seek revenge on you," she went right to the point.
Mayin was dumbstruck for a few moments, she didn't know how to react to this, she couldn't be angry at her daughter for reporting a crime, but she wasn't happy about it either. She needed to understand more about the situation, maybe she was just overreacting.
"Tell me what happened?"
"Mom, I need to talk to you separately, brother, go order anything you want and wait for us over there," she pointed to a different table.
"Ok," her brother was curious about what's happening but not as much as he was about those ice creams, he teleported near the showcase looking at the assortment of all kinds of flavors, his mouth salivating.
Lanru explained everything leaving unnecessary details, but she revealed the criminal's possible identity, after all her mother must understand the gravity of the situation.
"You'll come with us, I can't let you stay there anymore," Mayin sent her daughter to have a better life, but this development left her speechless, a criminal was prying on her daughter in her father's house, she deeply regretted her decision. Fortunately, nothing bad happened, so it wasn't too late.
"Mom, it's safer there, there's a lot of bodyguards and security cameras, and most importantly, I can't put you guys in more danger than I already did, that's why I wanted to see you."
Mayin felt helpless, she wanted to argue but she knew she couldn't afford even close to the tenth of the security her father could provide. Her words were stuck in her mouth. She could only lower her head.
Lanru was worried this was by her reaction, this was just a minor part, how was she react to the real thing. She took a deep breath and said her piece, "Mom, you have to take a leave for as much as you can until he's caught. Take this chance to have your vacation, you didn't relax for a long time, I'll reserve a nice place for you, go with my brother." It was still summer, so they could enjoy the warm weather.
Mayin was conflicted, this situation came out of nowhere and showed her even more how powerless she was. She can't protect her daughter, no she can't even protect herself that her daughter was trying to help her out. She shook her head, this wasn't time to let herself drown in her own misery, but she can't burden her daughter, though, it looks like her daughter was indeed overreacting, but she can't reject her directly either.
"Forget about that, I'll see what I can do," she looked at Lanru carefully, "the boss won't agree, anyway."
"Mom, don't worry about work, you didn't get your vocation for many years, what kind of work is that,"
Hearing about her works, she was triggered, "that's the work that let me rise you, and your brother, what if I get fire?" but she soon regretted what she said, it was the wrong person and time to let out her frustration.
"I know, mom," Lanru caught her hands, "but you know you have me, you can breathe now mom."
Mayin's eyes moistened, she held her daughter's hands tightly as well. Wasn't money supposed to spoil her, how come she turned into the best daughter? Still, she can't lean on the money of her daughter's father.
Lanru added, "Besides, I want to see him fire you, we will sue him. I can support you, just trust me. Our lives are more important right now."
Mayin smiled but she didn't take her seriously, Lanru knew it would be easy but she was prepared to fight for it, but her phone suddenly rang. It was her father, she felt like ignoring his call, he really pissed her off this time. Everything was his fault. She knew it wasn't his intention but still. But in the end, she accepted the call. After all, she was still under his care.
"Hello."
"How is the situation with your mother," his tone wasn't as cold as she was used to. Her eyes widened, and her annoyance subsided a bit, "we are still talking, I intend to send them on a vacation..." she found herself letting him in on her plans.
"We have a summer villa in Juangong, you can send them there."
"No, I can't send them any of your properties."
"Why? are you still angry with me," his voice raised a bit, he wasn't used to being gentle.
Lanru rolled her eyes, but didn't find fault with him, "no, I just fear, Mr. Gubi might know about it."
"Ah," after an awkward silence, "I didn't think about that… anyway, leave everything to me, I'll arrange for them to go somewhere nice and safe," he was resolute this time.
She hesitated for a moment, his action didn't make him trustworthy in her eyes, but feeling like his stubbornness was no more, she decided to accept his help, he wasn't a CEO for no reason, "thank you, father."
"Ah..." after an awkward silence he changed the subject, "by the way, your room was closed and we weren't able to get the lamps, I promised the detective to bring them later."
"I'll come tomorrow."
After she ended the call with her father, she called Detective Park.
"Detective, about the bodyguard matter, can you help me?"
"Ok let me make some calls first, I'll call you back,"
"Thank you very much,"
"It's the least I can do, do you know how much we looked for this bastard without finding anything, this is the first time we found some hope, so I really thank you."
Detective Park called back later and arranged for a meeting the next morning. Only with a competent bodyguard would she feel a bit at ease, and the one he recommended was a young ex-detective, he was both brawn and brain.
Content with his profile, she called her father back, "Father, I hired a bodyguard, I'll meet him tomorrow, can you arrange for him to stay close."
"Why did you do that, we have many bodyguards here… ah, I see.. OK, leave it to me."
A short time later, he called again, "you can go to Mingti Hotel, spend the night there first."
"Thank you, father," Lanru felt really good about the change, it was always good to have a dependable father, but she was not at ease. She didn't want to depend too much on anyone, she can't put her stakes in other people's hands, she needs to be powerful herself to be able to handle her things. Her urgency to build her own power grew even more. Even her mother wasn't willing to accept her borrowed help, it took her a long time to convince her.
They took the subway to the city center, it wasn't far from her father's mansion. The sun was sending its last rays when the taxi arrived at the Mingti Hotel, it was a well-known 5 stars hotel. Their family owned a hotel themselves, but her father followed her wish and reserved a room in a different hotel.
The entrance led to a spacious hall with a high ceiling, the lighting spread an aristocratic ambiance with huge crystal chandeliers hanging above. Her brother looked around with light in his eyes, while her mother shrank with hesitation on her steps. Lanru took charge to relieve her mother, they checked in and an employee led them to their room.
Her father didn't go overboard with the reservation but he still booked a suite, with two beds, a living area, a dining area, and a bathroom. It was cleverly designed and felt bigger than their house.
Her mother was worried looking at the luxurious room. "Lanru, this is a bit too much."
"Mom, it isn't, am I not your daughter, I know you're uneasy because this is not my own money, but this is an emergency."
"I know, but I still don't feel comfortable."
"Mom, you raised me by yourself all this time, these measly suite won't amount to anything, so just relax, and enjoy your vacation. This is just the beginning," she swore inwardly, to make sure her mother got used to this level of luxury.
Seeing the complicated feeling on her daughter's face, Mayin didn't say anymore. On the other hand, Bolin was looking at them suspiciously from the side, shaking his head. He was really not used to his new sister.
Lanru looked at him and a grin appeared on her face, "brother, do you still think, I'm not your sister."
"Of course, look at how you're all lovey-dovey with mom, that can't be my sister," Bolin nodded to himself, "and you're more like an adult, nothing like my naughty sister."
"What a shame, I brought the last Huamei for my brother, it can't be helped then."
She wanted to go see them from the start after her talk with her father ended, so she brought the things she prepared with her in her school bag.
Her brother's eyes went wide like a saucer, "sister, you're back," he hurried to her side and hugged her hand, "only my sister could be this nice."
Looking at her shameless brother, she couldn't help but chuckle, "wasn't your sister supposed to be naughty."
"Come on, sister, we all know you have a good heart."
She wasn't sure whether he meant it or not, but it left a grin on her face. She took the phone from her bag, and it vanished from her hands before she could hand it. Her brother's fingers flayed on the screen, and his eyes were obsessed. He looked like a maniac.

Meanwhile, Shuji was contemplating his action today. He had to admit, while he was the adult, he was acting more like the brat. And he had to accept his daughter now, he can't keep blaming her for his past fault. It wasn't her fault that she was born, and she wasn't as bad as he expected, it was the other way around.
His phone suddenly rang, it was Detective Park, he hurried accepted the call, "Hello, Mr. Park."
"Hello Mr. Shuji, I called to inform you the tea drug test was positive, and it matched the one used by the silent pollen."
