Farewell

"Amphitrite van Blissia, You have caused a grave crime!"

A voice that boomed over that small whisper, leaving dead silence. The Emperor stood from his throne and began his dreadful speech.

"For the act of interacting with a monster, sheltering it, and protecting it, you have betrayed this kingdom!" He roared, his hands reaching out to all of the nobles.

Amphitrite could only roll her eyes. She was the bad one? They had killed an innocent child without batting an eye! Sure, it was a monster, but she didn't do anything wrong! Yet these people here dare act if they're saints. It made her want to puke.

"To repay this terrible crime, you shall be punish with no mercy!" The emperor commanded.

She began to get quite annoyed, and so did Fleya, who was tied up next to her.

"HOW COULD YOU!? She is still the Archduke's daughter! Sir Cassius, please-"

Fleya paused.

Her father, Cassius, only glared back at them, eyes filled with disappointment and disgust.

The Emperor glared at her father with a suspecting look.

"Cassius, do you plan on defending your daughter? She is your own blood and flesh"

He hesitated for a moment, yet stood tall in his response .

" Your Majesty, I apologize for my "daughter". I feel so repulsive, to think that sickening creature is to be called my own child. You know my loyalty knows no bounds for my kingdom" He answered, smiling back along with his reply.

Sickening creature. The word echoed in Amphitrite's mind. "That's what he thought of her, an ugly monster?" She questioned in her head, feeling her blood boiling by the second, anger taking over. Fleya went out of control, breaking through the ropes locking her. She stole the sword of the knight guarding them and, in a flash, chopped off his head.

"I refuse to accept this! No matter what you say, I will protect and stay with my master, even if I have to go against the entire kingdom!"

The emperor clicked his tongue, annoyed by the commotion. " Impudence, how dare you! Knights, capture her and chop off her head!"

Fleya fought quite well. Slashing and cutting down knights, ripping apart arms and legs. Blood was spilling everywhere, as well as blood-shrieking screams that filled the room and corpses lying on the ground. Nobles were screaming, rushing to escape this bloody room. But the emperor and dukes, along with the royal knights, settled down the commotion.

It was to be expected. Fleya was formerly a warrior of another nation. She was one of the best fighters in her country. Sadly, the two kingdoms went into war, and her country lost. Amphitrite had later found her in the streets, and decided to take her in.

A few moments later, there was a loud scream, then a thud. Fleya suddenly was tossed to the ground, struggling to get on her feet, still trying to protect Amphitrite.

Mermina felt so useless. "If only," she thought, panicking as each second went by, " I could break through this rope. But even then, would I be able to help with anything?" She rethought her choices. "I can't fight, and I certainly couldn't run." With all the royal knights in the palace, running away was basically a death wish.

The knights tossed her around, mumbling words under their breath.

"Stupid bitch"

Anger boiled in Amphitrite's blood, but soon faded to desperation as one of the knights raised their sword.

"STOP! DON'T. YOU. DARE." She scream in a panic, desperate for anything that would work.

Nobody had listen to her. No one respected her. Instead, they had laughed. Some laughed with amusement. Some smiled with pity. In the end, no one dared to go up against the emperor. Not for her

With the last bit of strength, Fleya reach out her trembling hand to Amphitrite. Bloody scars and scratches had formed during the fight on her skin. It was so futile, but it was why that moment broke Amphitrite's heart so much.

"Y-your highness. Please. R-run. Run as f-far as you can. A-anywhere but h-here."

"NO. STOP!" Amphitrite cried, pouring everything in every word.

The knight raised the sword, and the blade had struck Fleya stomach. Blood spilled all over, staining the floor with a scarlet red. No words or phrases could describe the scene, the agony of watching the death unfold as Fleya soon dropped lifeless on the ground.

The Emperor frowned with disgust." How dirty. As expected from a slave. She meet her rightful end by the blade."

With the strength Amphitrite had left, she inched towards Fleya's body, trying to hug Fleya while she was still tied up with the ropes. In a short amount of time, Fleya's body had grown cold. Her eyes, lifeless, in which where it should have been joyful.

No matter what, she couldn't hold it in. Tears fell just like a waterfall. No matter how many eyes were on her, Amphitrite didn't care. Now, nothing would ever replace her or get her back. She was forever gone.

Fleya was always an important part of Amphitrite's life. It may be something important, like helping with a business plan, or something as simple as being there, enjoying each others company as they bury themselves in continuous work. They were two parts of the same soul, as the poets say, one not functioning without the other. But, when one dies, what happens to the other?

Amphitrite wasn't prepared to find out. No matter, It would seem as she would be joining Fleya soon...
