Chapter 10

Friday, 3:00 AM

Ting, Ting, Ting, Tok!

"Can you not wake me up like there's a fire or something happening around me? That alarm you've got really needs to be changed."

["What is the host talking about? This alarm has been specially designed to improve brain activity and concentration during the day."]

"Then why don't you just design a new alarm without the pain?"

["... You need to go clean the house."]

"Ugh, what time is it?"

["3:03 AM"]

"Oh, ok... What? Its twilight?"

["First of all, you need as many hours in the day as you can get, secondly, you need a dictionary."]

Friday, 5:00 AM

By the time Alva had left the house, it looked brand new. The floorboards were sparkling, the shattered glass windows were not as shattered, and Fred was jumping for joy. Alva himself was looking sharp. He didn't really know why but, it seemed like, after his morning exercise, he had been partially molded into a new person.

"Good morning, Mr. Chefy, sir!"

"Good morning, boy, have you been practicing the manual I taught you?"

"I started this morning sir."

"How is it?"

"I'm not sure sir, it doesn't really do anything apart from making me hot."

"That's good, it's gonna help keep you in tip top shape... now, if only Fred, that slimy bastard..."

___

"Haaah, work!", he sighed, " at least today is my last day for the week, I'm finally free!"

["You've rested for long enough, you have to start learning while Fred is still in his room trying to coax his 'girlfriend' to hold his hand."]

"Alright, I've got like a good 3 hours. Wait, Veelo, I'm not sure how to use my 'powers'."

["Just start learning, it will just kick in. It should ne like a reflex."]

"Should be?"

["..."]

___

4 Hours Later...

"Are all online courses this short? I feel like I've barely got on here."

["You played it at 15x the speed."]

"Haha, I guess <> do have a use. Take that you stuck up college graduates. Haha. Alright so, what do we do now?"

["Start your side hustle."]

"But I don't have the stuff needed to start. ["That's why you work a job."]

"Okay, so, I'm gonna have to work, get money, then finance my side hustle. But that would take too long."

He sat there in contemplation. He had already gone online and checked the prices of the equipment he would need to start his side hustle whiles watching the course. He would need at least 10,000 Jays to start his business. There was no way he was gonna wait over 2 years to start his side hustle. That would keep him in poverty for at least an extra 2 years! He might have been grateful that he wasn't in absolute poverty but, that didn't mean he would like to stay at this stage of his life for so long. He had to find another way to make money and he had to do it. Fast.

'Should I... steal? I've seen some people do it and it's not that hard. No, no, no, no. I can't steal. What would dad say? He'd look at me with those big, penetrative, hazel brown eyes with his brow furrowed in distaste and reproach - Vader, you better not...- sometimes Alva missed his parents.

But, they were gone. Died of hunger. That very day he had seen them eat their fill. In fact his mom was putting on a couple pounds but, there was no way his dad, brothers, or him was going to tell her that. Those jeans just shrunk in the wash. We're gonna have to call up the company and complain about the product.'

"Wait, Veelo, I have a brilliant idea! I may not have the equipment needed but, I can still fashion some DIY tools to purify the water a little bit. If there water was brown before, it would now be a light shade of green, like tea. I could use the whole middle class as my niche."

Not only had Alva been going to work, cleaning the house, and thinking of ways to make money, he had also (been forced to) read up on various subjects. One of them being economics. With his superpower, it was a piece of cake internalizing all that information and turning it into useful stuff.

"I could still make money of of this and save some up to buy the real equipment. Thinking like this, it wouldn't be hard to turn my side hustle into a full blown business."

["Is that what you want to do? Just because it is profitable doesn't mean you should venture into it."]

"Can you go into more detail please?"

["If you don't really have a passion for the business, it might end up taking more from you than you earn from it. If this is just a side hustle, keep it as just a side hustle and use the profits to pursue what you are actually interested in."]

"So, what you are saying is, I shouldn't just let my mind wander from business to business but, instead stay focused? I see. Alright then, let's do it like this, I'll grow the water purification side hustle into a company worth 500,000,000(million) Jays and then sell it and use that money to do what I really want to do. Haha, this journey may not be easy but at least I'm able to see the road a bit clearer now. Haha, one day the world's gonna be at my feet. Imagine all the pretty ladies I could have waiting on me- Mr Alva here's your tea

Mr. Alva open your mouth, these grapes won't eat themselves

Mr Alva can I please have your autograph?..."

Alva may not have noticed it but, his temperament was slowly changing and so was his intellect. Not even two days ago, he would have struggled to grasp what Veelo meant. It was like Veelo was the whetstone and Alva a dull knife.
