Town and Shop

Justin stands over a soft patch of dirt. A single stone with the word "Keyla" carved into it lies at the head. Tears fall slowly as he looks down at the grave.

"I won't let this happen again. I don't know what has happened to the world. But I'll watch the system burn before I see another friend die." He whispers hoarsely, a look of fury and sadness flash across his face. "I'm a Void Paladin. Whoever did this to my world will learn what it means to face the Void."

He kneels for a moment and slowly pours a handful of dirt over the grave.

He immediately accepts the quest and rises. Looking off in the distance, towards the nearest town, he sets off. If there were any survivors along the road as he made his way, their blood would have run cold as he slaughters the remnants of the Werewolves along the highway.

The sun is setting as he finally nears the town. Surprise flits through his mind as he sees a massive stone wall surrounding it. Beyond the walls he can just make out a strange tower, long and thin at the top. It's jet black and even in the low light it seems to stick out clearly.

Arriving at the gate entrance of the wall Justin is halted by two guards.

[TOWN GUARD LVL 20]

"Who is out there?" One of the guards yells out. "The gates close in 5 minutes. Your cutting it close aren't you?"

"I'm a traveler! I've only just gotten here!"

"WHAT?! But the way your coming from....that's impossible. That highway is infested with high level Werewolves" the guards exclaims.

"WAS infested." Justin replies with a growl. " I killed all the ones I came across."

"Well God damn...come in then. The Captian will want to talk to you." Your the only survivor that's made it from that direction."

The guard leads him towards a small building close the the gates. A barracks by the look of it. After entering, they make their way to a small room in the back. The guard knocks on the door.

"What is it?" A surprisingly feminine voice calls from the other side.

"Captian we have a survivor from the east. Says he traveled from the highway"

There is a bang of something falling and a muttered curse, then the door is swinging wide open to reveal a woman. The woman's figure can only be described as Amazonian. Muscular and tall yet lithe and agile looking. She is wearing a an all black leather outfit with cutout arms. In the back of Justin's mind he notes her mildly flat chest and large curves.

"You? You came from the east? Come in. Come in! Thomas, you can return back to your post."

She seats Justin in a wooden chair that sits in front of an old metal desk.

"So you came from the east? How was it? How did you get past the Werewolves? Did you see any survivors!?!"

Justin chuckles at the barrage of questions. "First I did come from the east. I got past the Werewolves by killing them." His voice goes husky and his eyes darken as he continues. "I killed every one of them from here to about 4 days travel away. There...was only one survivor....she...didn't make it. She was ambushed by the Alpha while I fought off three other Werewolves. I tried to heal her...but...I was too late. She was my friend."

""I'm so sorry to hear that. My sister...she was traveling here from out of town. I was hoping that you had met her." she replies with a hitch in her voice.

"Her name...wasn't keyla was it?" Justin says hesitantly.

The Captian's eyes widen and her breath stops. "Yes her name WAS Keyla. Oh my God she was the woman you found? Please. Please tell me everything"

She and Justin spend the next hour recounting his journey. The Captian gasps and cheers in the right places. When he finally ended his tale, the captian sat there, tears running down her face.

"She was so close to making it...She was always so much stronger than me. I may have been the athletic one but she never backed down from anything she never caved to pressure. She constantly had my back. Always there for me. Thank you Justin. I couldn't have asked more from you. You laid her to rest and even marked her grave. Thank you so much."

"We fought together and bleed together. She was my friend. I would have died for her as she did for me." He replies in a whisper.

"Is there anything I can do for you?" She asks him. " You seem to be very well equipped. Better than most if not all the people here."

"Well I do have a few questions. I was wondering if there was a shop or something nearby. I will also need a place to stay. Also what is the average level here?"

"Of course. The tower you can see from outside the city has a portal at the bottom. Takes you to some kind System shop. Word of advice time seems to run slower there. A few hours there is only minutes here. As far as a place to stay. how about this. If your willing to train and even go on the occasional monster with our guards then you can stay at the barracks free. The average level of the regular citizens is only around 10-15. The guards tend to be 20. Do you mind if I ask what level and Class you are?"

"Sure. I've actually not been able to check my status for a day I've been busy traveling and fighting so much." he replies.

"Wheew" The Captian whistles. "No wonder you were able to survive those monsters. I don't know what a Void Paladin is, but it sounds intimidating and powerful."

Justin laughs. "Just look at it as a dark Paladin of smiting. It has ridiculous offensive power but takes loads of mana to dish it out. Normal heavy armor type defence."
