Doubts and Regrets 2

Christopher's voice hoarse sounded devastated, he was too broken-hearted at the moment, he didn't know if his wife was awake or would forgive him or not, however, he knew whatever punishment she would give him, he would accept it as his fate.

Meanwhile, Christy who silently laid on the bed, felt her heart flutter weirdly the feeling made her ponder about her husband.

The man beside her, was her husband she knew for more than two decades, yet, why did he cheat on her?

She never knew him to be a womanizer nor a flirt. If he was tired of their marriage, or her, she would have at least see or notice anything strange about him.

Christy could not understand or comprehend the reason he would cheat on her, but still, she wanted to see if he really meant all that he had just said, or was just trying to sweet-talk his way out. She kept silent, assuming a nonchalant attitude as she listened to whatever he was muttering.

Slowly the night kept on passing as Christopher softly clung onto Christy's legs, afraid he might injure her.

His voice became muffled from sobbing and apologizing throughout the night. Without him realizing it, it was morning already, the loud crowing from the rooster slowly woke everyone to a brown new day.

The birds slowly chirp, while the morning rooster kept on crowing until everyone was up for their morning activities for the day.

After waking up, she did her usual morning stretch of course, after yawning.

However, what she saw next made her flabbergasted, Christy was shocked to see her husband, still kneeling beside the bed with his hands and head on her ankle. His voice sounded muffled and quite hoarse from sobbing and apologizing throughout the night.

This event appeared meaningful for noticeable reasons. First, he was sorry, and second, it was truly not his fault and it might have been a mistake.

Despite trying to act cold and ignorant, Christy could not help but feel slightly guilty about it. She has never seen her husband like this before.

She loved him, and she was sure he loved her too. With her husband's attitude and character, she was sure her husband wouldn't go this far, just lie to her again this was a fact she was very sure of.

The more she looked, the more she felt he truly meant what he had said all along.

Christy slowly straighten her body, subconsciously a smile slowly crept up her beautiful face, while her eyes had tears brimming within them.

At this moment Christopher was still kneeling, with his back bent beside the bed wooden platform. Suddenly he heard a small groan, the moment he heard the groan he quickly softened his grip on Christy's legs, afraid he might have been holding onto her tightly.

He was about to apologize, before being interrupted by the familiar tender voice, he had missed for ages.

His stream of thought got interrupted, by Christy's lovely voice, he slowly lifted his head but most of what his sight could make sense of felt like a blur.

Lowering his head again, he realized it has must be an illusion caused by fatigue... He muses to himself, with a self ridiculing chuckle.

"I guess, he didn't hear what I said...."

Christopher was dazed, why was he hallucinating, and most importantly now of all time? he looked around and found out that he was the only person within their room.

Maybe....just maybe Christy must have been calling me...Yes, it definitely must have been me and nobody else.

He was yet to swiftly react to all that was happening when he felt a soft embrace on him.

The softness contained an indescribable freshness to its core, it slowly overwhelmed his nostril and his senses. He felt his body froze for a moment, at very the least he couldn't react for the first few scends, even though he was dumbfounded that she might have been the one who he was currently hugging. He didn't expect it to be this fast.

"Darling, I believe you and am willing to forgive you, but on one condition...."

The tender voice slowly brought him back to his senses.

"Yes, just tell me anything, am will....."

Christopher said without thinking twice, his streams of emotionalism got interrupted when he heard Christy's next words.

"Darling, if you don't mind you might be hugging...our son a bit too tightly."

Christopher raised his head upward, when he felt his skin was prickling from something he slowly shifted his sight as he soon noticed the two pairs of dark pupils, that was staring at him intensely.

"Wait, why am I hugging my son instead of you?" Christopher for once was flabbergasted, for someone who felt like he had just gone through hell, he felt a bit annoyed and embarrassed at the same time, the little imp of his had stolen his moment.

Christopher burst into laughter followed by Christy who was chuckling by the side, as he grabbed Tobi and raised him high up in the air.

Tobi obviously who wouldn't give in smacked Christopher on the face with his chubby little fist, but the latter nearly choked from the pain he felt at that moment, from his son's heavenly shattering fist.

"This little imp sure is strong," Christopher said with a slight sense of bewilderment, as he laughed loudly, internally he felt the urge to curse, while Christy covered her mouth as she beholds the funny scene.

Meanwhile, Tobi at this point was very upset about how the b*stard had nearly squeezed all the air out of his lungs, if not for the fact he was his father. He would have already slapped him to death.

After dropping off Tobi on his sleeping cradle.

They both decided to continue from where they had stopped earlier, Christy had her beautiful face lodged onto his chest. While she sobbed uncontrollably, Christopher gently embraces her tenderly, as though afraid he might hurt her. Again he was afraid that this might be an illusion, that the moment he releases her, Christy would disappear.

Christopher softly pulled a distance as he wiped her tears, it could be said it had been a long time he had seen his wife cry this way. He held onto Christy's hands, they were both full of smiles as they stare at each other in the eyes afraid, this lovely moment would disappear.

However, he suddenly felt his stomach rumble and all he could feel was hunger. Once again their lovely moment was being ruined by his hunger.

Christy couldn't help but chuckled seeing her husband's embarrassed look. Ever since their little quarrel, she noticed he had barely been able to muster the strength to eat properly due to his guilty conscience.

While he noticed his wife staring at him, he slowly stood up.

"Dear, today let this stupid husband of yours, make breakfast for everyone!"
