Doubts and Regrets

After opening his eyes Tobi scanned around him, before checking the notification characters that had popped up after completing the milk daily task.

[Daily Quests: Drink milk completed]

[Host has received 5 exp]

'Just like the system exaggerated..... completing milk daily task no longer gives me attributes point, nor even display the usual notification characters.' Tobi stared at the system panel, for a moment as he muse.

Days passed as Tobi kept completing the daily task, and receiving both exp points and attributes points.

The most noticeable difference was the timeskip of meditation technique attributes points, that seemed to be going on and off.

With these changes, Tobi knew the system was going through an abnormal change again, and apart from that the exp points still has some time before another level up.

Tobi ignored it, and just maintain the completion of the system daily tasks.

Meanwhile, things weren't as easy for both Christy and Christopher, she felt as though she had been living with a different person all along. And there was still the unknown possibility of him doing it more than once, which she didn't dare think too deeply.

At night, Christopher had a hard time sleeping on the bed even though he was quite exhausted from working throughout the entire day. He stared at his wife's frailty and back facing him. A soft and warm back with streaks of perspiration appeared in front of his eyes.

In this image, he remembered how Christy would express how worried she was, after seeing him come back home very tired. But now...

Seeing Christy giving him the cold shoulders, made him felt more disheartened and remorseful.

All this made him realize how badly he had hurt her, this meant his days were numbered and he would have less portion of her delicious meals, her beautiful charming smile, or her soothing magical voice that would always take away all his worries.

Christopher cursed himself in his heart, all of a sudden he felt lost, helpless, and confused. He promised himself if could pass through this phase, there won't be a next time, and he would not dare to look at another woman outside his matrimonial home again.

"W...h...y?"

While Christopher was lost in his own little thought, a soft voice that sounded a bit muffled interrupt his earlier thoughts, as he slowly came to reality.

When he heard the voice, he felt his heart go through a circle of emotionalism, her voice seemed petrified from sobbing. Christopher stared in a daze, he was already expecting this question.

Hence, he was at loss for words, but only for a moment. The matter was far too serious to be ignored or just be swept aside because he knew too well it was a painful and irrefutable truth he could not hide from her forever.

With a deep sigh, he finally said.

"It all happened ten years ago, and I was drunk."

After saying these few words an eerie silence fell within the room, revealing the truth was what he was trying so hard to do. Looking for the best possible alternative explanation.

But there wasn't any, it was all his fault and his alone, he was neither for her sake nor was he forced.

"How..... tell me how could you do this to me?... Have I been a bad wife to you?"

There were tears in her eyes, as she stuttered her words slowly, while her body kept quivering, it was hard to explain if it was from the cold weather or because she was sad.

Christopher felt at loss, and more devastating heartache, that made him feel like his little world he had worked so hard to build, was slowly crumbling upon him.

He was afraid of saying something wrong, afraid of losing his wife, or even worse she walking away from his life with their children, all this appeared to be a like a scary nightmare.

His mind was filled with various worries only he could feel, what would he say that could sound comfortable to her, or that would ease her worries and insecurity.

Or what would not sound like a cheat covering his exposed tracks? it needed to at least sound reasonable to her while he slowly revealed the truth.

He knew all too well he didn't do any of this on purpose and all that had happened was all a sudden mistake on his side. However, who was it who made the mistake? Who was it who lied? Who the f*cking hell cheated? It was him and him alone, it didn't matter how, when, or where he did it.

No matter how common words were, Christopher doubted that it would make any sense now, not even sweet-talking would be able to coax his wife at this point.

However, at this moment even though he felt fatigued, he slowly crawled out of their bed and slowly knelt beside her, with his hands on her ankle and his head on top his palms.

"Darling, Let me start by saying that you are an amazing mother and the most important woman to me. I also want to let you know that I had never wanted, or intended to hurt you,

"I know it will be difficult for you to believe or forgive me, but I have to let you know that it all happened after our little quarrel and I got drunk. I am not saying this to put any sort of blame on you, the fact is that I had cheated on you and betrayed your trust. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness.

"I know I have gone beyond redemption, however, if you are still awake, I just want to let you know am deeply sorry and still very much love you and I promise there won't be a next time.

"And most especially, I would do anything for you, your love, and our kids. Cause you are my world, my only family, and I would give anything including my pitiful life just for you."

Christopher's voice hoarse sounded devastated, he was too broken-hearted at the moment, he didn't know if his wife was awake or would forgive him or not, however, he knew whatever punishment she would give him, he would accept it as his fate.

Meanwhile, Christy who silently laid on the bed, felt her heart flutter weirdly the feeling made her ponder about her husband.

The man beside her, was her husband she knew for more than two decades, yet, why did he cheat on her?
